McCarthyism – Duped by the media

I just finished reading Andrew Breitbart’s Righteous Indignation and started reading Blacklisted by History: the untold story of Senator Joe McCarthy by M. Stanton Evans.

Breitbart’s book is about what has become the left controlled media and culture in America:  how to identify it and how to combat it.  It’s a quick read and has some fun and interesting anecdotes about his life, past and present.

You know how you learn a new word and then see it everywhere? After reading Breitbart’s book, I’ve been more conscious of what I’m reading and hearing in the media. So, that happened to me today when I started reading Evans’ book. The book begins with all the redactions he found when researching documents regarding McCarthy and all the  missing documents related to him. Documents missing from the National Archives, for instance. Documents that would have supported or debunked a lot that has made Joe McCarthy an evil legend, to most.

The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post all had written about McCarthy at different times, including obits that related to “victims” of his governmental communist hunt. And every one of them, even in crossword puzzle clues, as well as all the history I’ve read previously about McCarthy, refer to his HUAC – House Un-American Activities Committee.

Do you see how easily duped we’ve been by the main stream media in this country? A senator cannot chair a HOUSE committee…

“It seems inconceivable, but is obviously so, that there are people writing for major papers who don’t know we have a bicameral legislative system, that a senator wouldn’t [couldn’t] head a House committee. And while such bloopers are amusing, they can have effects that historically speaking aren’t so funny, pinning responsibility on McCarthy for things to which he had no connection (e.g. the House committee’s investigation of Reds in Hollywood, often imputed to McCarthy.)”

Quote of the day – Nancy Pelosi

Pelosi — who is widely viewed as the person most responsible for ensuring that Dems drew a hard line against Bush’s privatization proposals — said that so doing would have persuaded people that there must have been something wrong with Social Security that needed fixing. She suggested that Dems should keep that message in mind as they prepare to do battle over Ryan’s Medicare proposals.

“We got criticized for it, but it was the most important thing,” Pelosi said. “We couldn’t have our own proposal on Social Security because it would confuse the public.” from the Washington Post via Fox Nation

LOL so she wants us to believe that there’s nothing wrong with Social Security…

Who died and made this kid a Constitutional authority?

Ezra Klein is an idiot wizkid. He has no idea what he’s talking about but sure has convinced a whole lot of folks that he knows something about something.

When did it become the common knowledge in this country that in order to know what the Constitution says, we need lawyers and judges to tell us? There is no way that anyone can convince me that the Founders wrote this document so that NONE of us could understand it. This document was not written to keep the populace in the dark about their God-given rights. No way – no how!

But Ezra says that it’s too complicated and written in an old fashion-y way and it’s over 100 years old (no, Ezra, you brilliant 26 year old, poli-sci grad, it’s over 230 years old) so therefore, it’s irrelevant today. And it’s confusing.

Confusing to liberals, yes. Because they are having a difficult time finding ways to twist the old fashion-y text to fit their changing attacks on our rights.

Irrelevant? To progressives, yes. They continue to write law that has no basis in the Constitution. And they are not ashamed to tell you so, either. Just take note of the comments from Congressmen and Senators who state that they don’t consider the Constitution when making law. You’ve all heard and seen those clips of Pete Stark, Pelsoi and others.

Ezra also says it’s non-binding. Non-binding to progressives yes, as they try to find loop holes around it, while they try to tie us in knots by restricting our rights. How can the reading of it at the opening of the 112th Congress be non-binding?

The Constitution is binding on every person who takes an oath to uphold it, Ezra, you stupid jackass! It’s binding every day that those men and women are in session and every day those same people are writing and voting on laws that effect our lives.

Tell me, you big dummy, (now I’m channeling Levin) when in any of our daily lives is that document non-binding? It’s the only thing that is keeping a Chavez-like regime from really taking root in this nation.

Lastly, someone tell me when it became okay, in fact fashionable, to be a self-avowed communist in the body politic of this nation? As a caller asked last night on Levin, how can a communist (or some variation of that – a marxist or socialist) take an oath to uphold the Constitution? It is in total ideological opposition to the communist ideology and therefore, a communist cannot make an honest and truthful oath to uphold our Constitution.

Bernie Sanders! Paging Bernie Sanders . . .

NPR, Smithsonian running scared as the Republican t-AXE man cometh

It’s becoming fun to watch the taxpayer funded arts, entertainment and ‘news’ entities in this country run scared from what they believe will be the Republican axe come January.

Right on the heels of the firing of Juan Williams and the public demands to cut tax dollars to NPR, several weeks ago PBS cut a segment of Tina Fey’s acceptance speech at the Kennedy Center. (You can watch the entire thing here, but her disparaging comments about Sarah Palin and conservative women starts at around 12 minutes.)

“And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women – except, of course –those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape ‘kit ‘n’ stuff,” Fey said. “But for everybody else, it’s a win-win. Unless you’re a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years – whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You know – actually, I take it back. The whole thing’s a disaster.”

This week, the Smithsonian followed the Corporation for Public Broadcasting lead by putting the cabosh on part of it’s homoerotic exhibit “Hide and Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture.”

As a warning, this is extremely disturbing and graphic, both sexually and violently. I was hesitant to post it. But this is what Christians, the general public and children can see at the National Portrait Gallery:

Bowing to pressure from the Catholic League and fears of cuts in tax funding by the Republicans, the powers at the National Portrait Gallery (part of the Smithsonian Institution) have pulled an “art video” depicting an image of Christ on the cross, covered in ants. William Donohue, president of the Catholic League calls this hate speech (a term I personally hate) that is meant to offend and insult Christians. Congressman John Boehner’s spokesman, Kevin Smith, called this exhibit a “misuse of taxpayer dollars.”

“American families have a right to expect better from recipients of taxpayer funds in a tough economy,”  Smith said. “While the amount of money involved may be small, it’s symbolic of the arrogance Washington routinely applies to thousands of spending decisions involving Americans’ hard-earned money.”

In defense of it’s decision to display this homoerotic exhibit, the National Gallery is quick to point out that the $750,000 in funding came from private donations, not taxpayer dollars. But if the gallery itself, which IS funded by taxes and the employees that are also paid with that same money, didn’t exist, neither would this exhibit.

Chris Edwards, director of tax policy studies at the Cato Institute and a former senior economist on the congressional Joint Economic Committee, told CNSNews.com, “If the Smithsonian didn’t have the taxpayer-funded building, they would have no space to present the exhibit, right? In my own view, if someone takes taxpayer money, then I think the taxpayers have every right to question the institutions where the money’s going.” (CNSNews.com)

Keep in mind that this exhibit is open to the public and in fact,  the National Gallery had a family weekend this fall, encouraging parents to bring their children and engage in hands on activities after their tour. (As an aside, this does give new meaning to the term “hands on.”)

This is part of what children got to see:

Another piece in the exhibit is a 1994 photograph (from a triptych) entitled “Brotherhood, Crossroads, Etcetera” by Lyle Ashton Harris. The “Hide/Seek” catalog says that Harris created the piece in collaboration with his brother, Thomas Allen Harris.

“In this provocative center image, the brothers exchange a passionate kiss as Thomas presses a gun into Lyle’s chest–conjuring the original biblical story of Cain’s treachery toward his brother, Abel,” states the catalog description (p. 265) of the piece. (also from CNSNews.com)

I’ve taken my kids to countless exhibits and museums over the years. They’ve had the privilege to see Picasso, Michelangelo and Rembrandt, as well as many other great artists. Really, I don’t have a problem with this stuff. I take that back, I do have a problem with this stuff, now that I’ve seen that video. This is more outrageous and disturbing than I first thought.

I do not advocate censorship, except where it pertains to my parental rights. As a parent, I have the right of censorship over what my young kids saw, heard and read. And I chose to pay for what they saw, heard and read.

The distinction here is that I am paying for art that I do not want to pay for: art that I would not want my kids to be exposed to: art that, in the words of Donohue, I find offensive and insulting.  And why is it okay to insult Christians? The liberal art cliche would never be exhibiting art that is offensive to Muslims – mainly out of fear of physical harm and not because it’s simply inappropriate, immoral and unacceptable.  And why do this during the Christmas season?

I do think that Bill Donohue is on to something here. As much as I hate the term “hate speech” because it smacks of censorship that I think should only be limited to individual choices and not government intervention, this is the way to fight this kind of thing. Again, this is an insulting and offensive exhibit to a great many American taxpayers, including me and this is not where I choose to spend my money.

Tax payer funded institutions like the Smithsonian and NPR, are not in a position to decide what is acceptable and appropriate to the public – the public makes that decision because the public is funding them. If they want the freedom to exhibit whatever they want – pornographic, anti-Christian, whatever – then they should not be funded by the American people. There is plenty of private funding out there that they can secure.

The authentic non-elitists and JournoList ‘journalists’

After reading these JournoList emails, no reporter can ever say, with any credibility, that Obama has been the victim of bad press. They’ve done everything they could do to assure that he looks good all the time. And if we ever thought these so-called reporters and pundits, were sensitive to us, the average American, this should knock some sense into us:

Adam Serwer on Palin and stupid Americans: But she’s so AUTHENTIC! Authentic non-elitist Americans don’t worry about this stuff, they worry about how to teach their kids how to shoot m-16s and use withdrawal as birth control.

 Kathleen Geier, also on Palin and stupid Americans: I’m unsure. Her ignorance is alarming, and I’d like to think it would make voters worry about whether she’s really up to the job.

On the other hand, the GOP obviously takes great pride in being the stupid party. And hey — it’s worked!

As Dan Gainor says today in his column, we are not of the same world as the “reporters” of JournoList. We are the unwashed, the clingers of God and guns, the stupid who believe in ‘myths’ like the Bible and Christian values, who are simply too weird, too backward for those elitists to understand.
It’s an old story, but the explanations are the same. “We are not of your world,” journalists whine as they miss the news of the day. The elusive concerns of God, country, Constitution and family are too unusual, too much like fairy tales for modern journalists to acknowledge.
~~~ooOoo~~~
This morning the Patriot Post, highlighting James De Long of the American Enterprise Institue,   said that any employer of these “reporters” should not only be offended and outraged at the attempts to use their publications to promote their progressive agenda, but should fire the whole lot of them.
The real problem with JournoList is that much of it consisted of exchanges among people who worked for institutions about how to best hijack their employers for the cause of Progressivism. Thus, the J-List discussion revealed yesterday in the Daily Caller was about how the group could get their media organizations to play down the Reverend Wright affair and help elect Barack Obama.
Were I an editor of one of these institutions, I would instantly fire any employee who participated in this gross violation of his/her duty. For example, the J-List included Washington Post reporters, and the idea that the paper has been turned into a propaganda organ is a big reason it is bleeding readers and influence.
But of course, this is all provided that the publications these “reporters” work for want to appear unbiased and fair in their reporting. The jury’s still out on that.
It’s official, NO one in this administration has a brain
Fom the Washington Post via DC Caller
Jeffrey Lewis, director of the Nuclear Strategy and Nonproliferation Initiative at the New America Foundation, said releasing the U.S. numbers would be “a major step forward in transparency.”
“The United States has not gotten enough credit for the reductions it has made,” he said. “That’s even true of the Bush administration. . . . It makes it easier for us to make the case we are in fact reducing the number of nuclear weapons.”
The Titan nuclear missle
Undamnedbelievable! Now the entire world is deserving of “transparency”? Americans haven’t even gotten that from this administration but we owe North Korea and Iran this? Oh hell, let’s let them loose in our nuclear power plants, too. Tour our nuclear subs. For cryin’ out loud… where is congress at? Is no one even a little appalled at this?
Stop the presses! The press is being stopped.
This story, coming as it does from the leftist Washington Post, should be a flashing red alarm to everyone, not just those in the media and press. Perhaps however, this will be a wake up call for the Obama fawning journalists.
Saturday, he ditched the press and left for a his daughter’s supposed soccer game. He bragged about this to the leader of Pakistan and remarked that his behavior caused some upset in the press pool. Interesting though, that if he were at his daughter’s soccer game, where are the pictures and youtube videos that surely other parents would have taken? Everyone has a cell phone these days and most certainly those parents at that exclusive private school have some kind of cell.
When was his last real, true press conference? He side steps the press by using youtube and his websites to speak directly to “the people” – read that HIS people. He does campaign style stump speeches with, again, HIS people, to sell his health care plan to people who are already on his bandwagon. He sends out surrogates to speak for him every Sunday morning on network television. He signed the Stupak executive order in private (so as not to rub it in the noses of his Marxists pro-choice supporters) and then released a – A – photo of the worthless but historic event. (Historic because it was so obviously worthless.)
The press is being duped and dissed by a president who is consistently marginalizing them. I think this is a strategic maneuver. This president who has a press that is so in love with him are now being ditched and left to 1st and 2nd tier WH officials to speak for him. It will be interesting to watch if this behavior continues how the press will contend with being bitch slapped all the time by their idol.
Media plants more praise on Mrs. Obama
from here and that dipshit (sorry to offend) Dana Milbank, but grab your barf bag first:
The first lady of the United States, dirt on her knees, then taught the children how to do “the rhubarb dance,” which consisted of wiggling fingers and casting a voodoo-like spell on the herb and chanting, “Grow, rhubarb, grow.” She then marched them rhythmically around the plot. “You gotta shake it!” she instructed.
She returned to the White House, but not before leaving the photographers and reporters with a final admonition. “Stay out of trouble,” she said. It’s something Michelle Obama has done exceedingly well.
Let’s not forget that the harvest last year from this famous garden was toxic and could not be eaten. They had to go out and buy “stand-in vegetables” (not unlike most of the actors in Hollywood now) for her big ol’ chef show.
And you do have to wonder: Who dresses this woman? Seriously.
Let’s start an office pool – what’ll be the left’s new cause?
Democrats need an accomplishment. And Democratic activists and voters need a new cause…
I love this line from the Washington Post because it’s all too true. The hallmark of the marxist progressive movement is all about “causes”.
In my life time it was the Viet Nam war, then civil rights, and women’s rights with the sub-cause abortion rights. These causes (for the exception of abortion) have all but evaporated and so they glommed onto health care reform and the green cause, aka global warming climate change.
Scott Brown has murdered health care, all alone and premeditated. Just ask Chris “leg tingler” Matthews:
Vodpod videos no longer available.
more about “Eyeblast.tv“, posted with vodpod
But look! Leaked emails, skeptical scientists coming out of the closets and Al Gore hiding in one, have debunked that so-called cause. So down the shitter goes the green cause and with it, cap and trade.
What’s the next cause? We need to be a step ahead of them. I call immigration the next big marxist progressive movement.
What say you? (Oh NO, Shoot me. I’m channeling Bill O’Reilly!)
A novel cause for the democrats
Washington can take this advice from the Washington Post:
If there is a lesson in the Massachusetts vote, it is this: pass a bill. The nation needs reform. Democrats need an accomplishment. And Democratic activists and voters need a new cause: fixing reform, not abandoning it.
Or this advice from the voters:
If it’s about just passing a bill and showing an accomplishment, even if it’s wrong and goes contrary to what the American people want, then by all means do it. But buff up your resumes because you will be looking for jobs after November.
How many more elections do you need to watch before you hear the voice of the people? They spoke very clearly and very loudly in Massachusetts. We don’t want this health care bill. We don’t want anything crammed down our throats. We don’t believe that you know what’s best for us. And we are sure sick of how you are wrecklessly spending money you don’t even have.
If democratic activists need a new cause, how about this one: REPRESENT THE PEOPLE WHO ELECTED YOU AND LISTEN TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING!
