Once again, Reid has to mess with something that actually works

Although I was born, raised and married in Wyoming, I’ll always consider Nevada home. My memories of Nevada are all good and my children got a first class education there as well as their own wonderful memories. We lived in a rural county, Nye and like many of the rural counties, prostitution is legal. It is deliberately illegal in Washoe (Reno) and Clark (Las Vegas) counties so as to not offend the tourist trade. But one need only drive 55 miles northwest on a rural highway, into Nye County and you can find 3 brothels and another 3 or 4 before you reach the county seat in Tonopah.

Aside from legal prostitution at places like the Chicken Ranch, Nye county is also famous for Area 51, the development of the Stealth bomber and the home of the great UFO hunter and radio personality, Art Bell.

The citizens of each county vote to legalize prostitution or not. And they reap a great deal of tax revenue from this legal business, too. Brothels are not within the city or town limits. You have to actually search them out. No one’s child sees them from a school bus, as Harry dipshit Reid has claimed. Most of us forget they even exist until we have relatives come visit and want a trip out there to see one.

The brothel owners ( I will not call them pimps) keep a very low profile in their communities, basically to avoid offending the townsfolk. Their girls are not allowed off the property for “out dates” with clients. They are taken to town for doctor appointments (every month for HIV, STD and other testing and last I knew, there has never been one case of HIV originating from the brothels) and to grocery stores for whatever they need, by a brothel employee. They do not “walk the streets”. Their business stays within the brothel compound. The girls have to have an out of county address. Most work 2 to 3 weeks and then go home for a week (most of them live in Las Vegas, where most of them have boyfriends.)

They pay for a privilege license – more tax revenue for the county and it can be taken away from them or the brothel owner, for breaking any laws that pertain to the business.

Prostitution is legal. It’s regulated. It makes the counties and state a lot of money. And the people of those counties want it. They voted to allow it. Now here comes Harry the dickhead Reid telling Nevadans that it’s time to “have an adult conversation” about this taxed and highly regulated industry. And maybe it’s time to outlaw it. (I’m already sick of hearing “adult conversation” as I was sick of hearing “transparency.”)

Harry – mind your business in DC:  keeping us broke and over extended and in massive debt, okay? Leave alone a business that’s working well and lawfully within the state. I wish this guy would just shut the hell up! Not everyone is Nevada is a Mormon. Not all of them are stupid enough to give up lots and lots of tax dollars from businesses that live on the edge of town and require a map to find. For cryin’ out loud – the voters in these counties are adults and they know what they want.

Leave them alone. Leave the counties alone. Mind your own misguided business and stay out of Nevada!

Stewarts Restore Sanity Rally

It was just a couple weeks ago that the folks in charge of this rally were begging the Marines for some of their port-a-potties. Stewarts “people” were willing to rent them from the Marines, who are having a marathon run tomorrow in DC, because the rally folks were afraid they weren’t going to have enough.

Obviously, they were at least one more short after this one was destroyed. I have to wonder how many other potties were destroyed like this. I guess the lawn on the mall got watered well today. . .

Now I can’t wait to see the after-rally mess they left.

For Obama, 9/11 was a “deeply traumatic event for our country.” Traumatic events invite characteristic reactions and over-reactions–fearfulness, anger, even hysteria. That’s how Obama understands the source of objections to the Ground Zero mosque. It’s all emotional. The arguments don’t have to be taken seriously. The criticisms of the mosque are the emotional reactions of a traumatized people.

But Americans aren’t traumatized. 9/11 was an attack on America, to which Americans have responded firmly, maturely, and appropriately. Part of our sensible and healthy reaction is that there shouldn’t be a 13-story mosque and Islamic community center next to Ground Zero (especially when it’s on a faster track to be built than the long-delayed memorial there). But Obama (like Bloomberg) doesn’t feel he even has to engage the arguments against the mosque–because he regards his fellow citizens as emotionally traumatized victims, not citizens who might have a reasonable point of view.

I’m so sick and tired of TheOne talking to us like we are children or one of his students in some imaginary class. He’s not a professor, and never has been one, contrary to what the lame stream media wants us to believe. He is not a constitutional scholar nor does he understand the Constitution any better than most attorneys.  The only thing he’s an authority about is community organizing and patronizing Americans.  He’s no more a psychologist than Dr. Seuss was – although Dr. Seuss had a much better understanding of human nature than Obama has.

Don’t talk to me about being traumatized and acting irrationally. That is the purview of liberals who talk about how they “feel” about issues and not what they “think.” If he wants to talk to Americans, he needs to talk about right and wrong and he needs to grow some balls in order for him to speak about right and wrong.

No one denies that there is a Constitutional right to build this mosque. And in fact, the ones who oppose this building are more knowledgeable about that document than most on the left are.  But because you can do it, does not mean you should: because you have the right does not make it right. What part of this does he and his party not understand?

I also get peeved when I hear people say that this is a local issue, as though only New Yorkers have the right to an opinion. It is a national issue. On 9/11/01 what American didn’t feel as though we were under attack? America was under attack on that day and not just in New York but in a field in Pennsylvania and in Washington DC. All Americans felt that same way on December 7, 1941, too.  So Nancy, you may want to duck the issue by claiming that building a mosque in New York is not your business, the rest of us Americans feel pretty vested in the topic.

And if she wants to investigate nearly 70% of American citizens, then that includes some in her own party  – like Harry Reid.

So what kind of “summit” will Shirley Sherrod get from TheOne?

In the words of Juan Williams today, “the White House freaked out” over an edited video (posted below on this blog) of Sherrods speech to the NAACP. The NAACP behaved in the same frantic way. I don’t care what anyone says, the WH was behind this whole job termination of Sherrod. She was TheOnes sacrificial lamb.

And then ruh-oh!

They were misimformed!

Actually, we all were. I am guilty of over-reacting and jumping to incorrect assumptions and my apology really means nothing in the scheme of this ladys life. But here it is, all the same.

My question is this:

Does she not deserve the same treatment that Professor Gates got in the Rose Garden after “cops acted stupidly” in Cambridge?

That was another example of TheOne jumping to conclusions and making erroneous assumptions. When I jump to the wrong conclusion (on my blog) it hurts virtually no one because virtually no one reads my blog. But when I do, I try to correct my mistake or apologize for it. When the WH does it – that’s serious business. This is the woman’s entire life, her career, her family who will have to suffer for this. As though she has not suffered enough in her lifetime. . .

You can blame Breitbart (as liberal “journalist” Shep Smith did today) for posting this edited clip but the ultimate responsibility rests with those who decided to REACT to it instead of taking a moment and studying the full context of it.

But isn’t this the total of his whole administration? Reaction instead of studied Proaction?

Yea, Roxanne. I think you’re right. Can I hear an Amen and a Hallelujah on that?!

The whole world hasn’t been watching closely enough

Marilyn Katz: Self described Marxist and former head of security for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS.) She was a major player in the ’68 riots at the DNC in Chicago. She was a sorority girl turned mouthpiece of a terrorist organization turned anti-capitalist capitalist communist.

Read on, she’s been a major player in positioning the Manchurian president we have now.

Today, many claim that SDS was a “peaceful organization.” Take Marilyn Katz, who oversaw SDS security during the 1968 Chicago riots.

During the “Chicago Seven” trials, a police officer testified that on one chaotic night in Lincoln Park, Ms. Katz briefed a group of protesters on a new addition to their arsenal of anarchy — guerrilla nails.

“She had two types,” the officer recounted. “One was a cluster of nails that were sharpened at both ends and fastened in the center. It looked like they were welded or soldered. She said these were good for throwing or putting underneath tires. She showed another set that was the same type of nails, sharpened, but they were put through a Styrofoam cylinder. There was a weight put through the middle, another nail, held together with something that looked like liquid solder.”

Katz was communications director for Chicago Mayor Harold Washington. And is now owner of a communications firm and a paid, registered lobbyist, as well as a close personal friend of the Obamas. So much for her anti-capitalism marxist philosophy, eh?

Her list of friends is a Who’s Who of the powerful elite in Chicago, Washington and the White House.

Don Rose, another SDS member and avowed Marxist, who coined the famous battle cry of the ’68 riots – “the whole world is watching” – is a close friend and comrade of Katz and the mentor of David Axelrod. The three of them have a friendship and history that spans some 30 years.

Katz has long been acquainted with Obama supporter and former Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers. In April 2008 Katz told the Chicago Sun-Times that she had first met Ayers when he was a 17-year-old fellow member of Students for a Democratic Society, “a peaceful group from which the Weather Underground splintered.” (emphasis added) from DiscoverTheNetworks.org

It was Katz who organized the anti-Iraq war demonstration in Chicago, 2002 where Obama made his first anti-war speech. He was an invited speaker. It was his coming out party. And it was a speech that Obama referred to many times in his presidential campaign. Marilyn Katz, one of the event’s organizers, recalls the audience’s reaction. “The crowd was pretty much transfixed,” she said.

… Katz, a lifelong socialist revolutionary who said last August that she “probably” rejects violence, is a close friend of Jarrett — and of Barack and Michelle Obama. She even visited the White House this July.

It was Katz who introduced Michelle Obama to Valerie Jarret and the “very sophisticated inner social circle” of Chicago elite Marxists. … Michelle “was recognized as brilliant and beautiful, and immediately accepted into a very sophisticated social circle.”

[Liza] Mundy [biographer of Michelle Obama] writes Michelle “and Barack…enjoyed a range of relations with people who shared their lifestyle, as well as their progressive views and political involvement. ‘These are folks,’ says Marilyn Katz, a member of their social circle, ‘who talk to their friends a number of times a day.” Katz repaid her friend by becoming a campaign bundler for Obama ‘08.

…And possibly trying to buy Jarrett a senate seat. Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has indicated, after Obama’s presidential election, Katz contacted his wife, Patti, with a deal to name Valerie Jarrett to the open senate seat in exchange for a White House payoff, brokered through SEIU.

Despite the controversy, in late July Katz joined Valerie Jarrett and Susan Sher in Washington for the Obama administration’s celebration of the 37^th anniversary of Title IX.

Given her radical history (beginning with SDS during the Days of Rage) and close association with our president and first lady, it may be that Katz helped introduce or reinforce [Dr. Quentin] Young’s arguments [for universal heath care] to the Obamas. They could have been sold socialist ideology by any number of their friends, acquaintances, and contacts. The relationship of Katz, Jarrett, Ayers, the Obamas, Young, Carl Davidson, the New Party, the late Rabbi Arnold Wolf, and many others are as hazy as they are disconcerting. It seems a constellation of Marxists hovers over the first couple at all times — and this is not by chance.

By all accounts, the Obamas are close with their friends — including Katz. The nation is at peril when the White House has an unrepentant ’60s radical on speed dial.  NewsRealBlog.com
