More ‘do-gooders-doin’-stupid’ in Britain

After the riots and looting we’ve seen in London of late, I find this pretty astounding.  The story was featured on Cam & Company tonight.

There are going to be 125,000 school kids getting free tickets to go to the 2012 London Olympics but they will not be allowed to watch the shooting events. Not even shooting practice for you, kiddies.

Danny Bryan, founder of Communities Against Gun and Knife Crime said: “I agree with Boris [the mayor of London]. It is good kids should enjoy the Games but there’s no way we should glorify guns.”

So with that argument, are they glorifying the javelin, the shot or the discus? Any of those can be lethal weapons and all are Olympic events. For cryin’ out loud, you could beat someone over the head with a hurdle or a block, for that matter.

What do they think they are protecting these kids from? It’s okay to see Londoners break windows, steal flat screen tv’s and throw rocks at the unarmed police but not okay to watch people shoot at targets. And it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway – these kids have seen much worse on tv, in video games and in movies. They have seen much worse “glorifying guns” than they can ever absorb at an Olympic shooting event.

After the looting and riots we have just seen in London, how do these ‘do-gooders-doin’-stupid’ justify this – – seriously?

You know, I love the Brits but sometimes they say and do things that just make no sense.

Brit reporter gets it half right on the Tucson shooting

Jarod Loughner - creepy, accused Tucson assassin

It’s always interesting to read foreign press observations of America. To be frank, the reporters obviously never leave New York City or Washington, DC because their take on most Americans and most of America is usually wrong. Therefore, they usually mislead their readers and I’m sure it’s not intentional but because they are living in the hotbed of liberalism, the information they get is liberally tainted.

Tonight I was reading an article in the Daily Mail by Tom Leonard about the shooting in Tucson and some of his information is just flat out wrong. Case in point: Gabrielle Giffords was a Democrat and much – but not all – of the badly spelt, incoherent YouTube jumble that passed for the politics of her attacker was broadly ‘Right-wing’.

As has been widely reported by now, there is absolutely no evidence that this nutcase had ‘right-wing’ leanings and in fact, there is plenty of evidence that he really is a dyed in the wool nutcase. We’ve all heard and read about Jarod Loughner’s favorite reading list (The Communist Manifesto) and his wickedly weird tented backyard shrine. It’s now being reported that he was a registered Independent.

Leonard goes on to say that the rush to make political capital out of a mass shooting shows just how nasty U.S. politics has become. But he fails to point out exactly who was making political capital out of this. Liberal jackass Paul Krugman, in less than 3 hours after the shooting, was one of the first out of the box to tweet the blame on the TEA party and Conservatives.  Since then, it’s been a parade of liberals from Jane Fonda to this Sheriff Dickhead of Pima County, who have been blaming it all on Conservatives, Fox News, Sarah Palin, et al, ad nauseum. ( I love using latin that I actually know. HA!)

As the name (a reference to the 1773 Boston Tea Party) implies, Tea Party supporters see their movement as rooted in the rebellion against George III, and the language has inevitably been full of military metaphor. Again, I don’t know where Mr. Leonard gets his information but exactly what “military metaphor” is he talking about? Don’t Tread on Me, perhaps?  Taxed Enough Already, maybe? He’s clueless on this topic and needs to stop reporting on it until he gets himself educated on what the TEA party really stands for.

American political rhetoric, on both sides of the spectrum, has always been a bit militaristic. The use of the words “battleground states”, for instance. But this is not new because of the TEA party.

Yes, it was rooted in rebellion. Take note of Rick Santelli, the father of the TEA party:

In the fractious lead-up to last November’s congressional mid-term elections – which saw a major victory for the Right – there were scuffles outside town halls, occasional brandishing of firearms at rallies and reports of rising membership of armed militias, ‘weekend warriors’ training for the day they believe will come when they will have to defend the U.S. Constitution. Did I  miss all this news last November? Who were all these people with guns and what militia is he talking about? Where did he get all this information that the rest of us honest to God Americans,  has been left out of knowing about? But don’t blame the Brits, they just can’t resist the caricature of Americans as wild west cowboys, all brandishing guns.

I think that Mr. Leonard is pretty fair to Sarah Palin but he failed to site any controversial liberal behaviors that are similar or worse than any seen on the right. For instance, he never quoted Obama extoling his audience that “if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” or calling Republicans “hostage takers” and the “enemy” of Hispanic Americans.

Leonard does finish his article in a very fair handed way, though:

History shows how dangerous it is to try to second-guess the motives of political assassins.

John Hinckley shot Ronald Reagan because he was obsessed with the actress Jodie Foster, not because he hated Right-wingers.

Likewise, Lynette Fromme tried to shoot Gerald Ford because she revered the cult killer Charles Manson.

But those lessons from history won’t stop some Democrats exploiting the shooting of a nine-year-old girl and five others at the weekend with precisely the sort of foam-flecked over-reaction for which they love to condemn their opponents on the Right.

Who died and made this kid a Constitutional authority?

Ezra Klein is an idiot wizkid. He has no idea what he’s talking about but sure has convinced a whole lot of folks that he knows something about something.

When did it become the common knowledge in this country that in order to know what the Constitution says, we need lawyers and judges to tell us? There is no way that anyone can convince me that the Founders wrote this document so that NONE of us could understand it. This document was not written to keep the populace in the dark about their God-given rights. No way – no how!

But Ezra says that it’s too complicated and written in an old fashion-y way and it’s over 100 years old (no, Ezra, you brilliant 26 year old, poli-sci grad, it’s over 230 years old) so therefore, it’s irrelevant today. And it’s confusing.

Confusing to liberals, yes. Because they are having a difficult time finding ways to twist the old fashion-y text to fit their changing attacks on our rights.

Irrelevant? To progressives, yes. They continue to write law that has no basis in the Constitution. And they are not ashamed to tell you so, either. Just take note of the comments from Congressmen and Senators who state that they don’t consider the Constitution when making law. You’ve all heard and seen those clips of Pete Stark, Pelsoi and others.

Ezra also says it’s non-binding. Non-binding to progressives yes, as they try to find loop holes around it, while they try to tie us in knots by restricting our rights. How can the reading of it at the opening of the 112th Congress be non-binding?

The Constitution is binding on every person who takes an oath to uphold it, Ezra, you stupid jackass! It’s binding every day that those men and women are in session and every day those same people are writing and voting on laws that effect our lives.

Tell me, you big dummy, (now I’m channeling Levin) when in any of our daily lives is that document non-binding? It’s the only thing that is keeping a Chavez-like regime from really taking root in this nation.

Lastly, someone tell me when it became okay, in fact fashionable, to be a self-avowed communist in the body politic of this nation? As a caller asked last night on Levin, how can a communist (or some variation of that – a marxist or socialist) take an oath to uphold the Constitution? It is in total ideological opposition to the communist ideology and therefore, a communist cannot make an honest and truthful oath to uphold our Constitution.

Bernie Sanders! Paging Bernie Sanders . . .

Its a New Year but the same old battles

As an old year closes and a new one beckons, here’s the question before us all, a question that challenges us each annum. Do we boldly paddle ahead, no matter how small and unstable our vessel seems, into whatever awaits beyond the year’s final edge? Or do we desperately hold on or, worse, cower before the unknown? Do we rest on laurels or, instead, try to accomplish more, do more good, and brave (as a verb) new worlds?

For our part, conservatives made significant strides this year, but the civic waves are not yet sweet enough for the lasting health of this, our nation. Like Reepicheep, we conservatives have been conditioned, in this case by Ronald Reagan rather than a dryad, to believe we have a rendezvous with destiny. Nor should we forget that we serve not just a nation, but the One who created all nations and endowed us with the liberty to choose. We are at this year’s tail end. Unhand the tail, and reach for the next great task before us. Quin Hillyar/The American Spectator

Enjoy your weekend. This is 2 day a respite from the real work ahead and unlike TheOne, I don’t see too many vacations or golf outings in the coming years for us. The communist progressives (or as they now want to be called – the NoLabels) have gotten their entire body – not just a foot or 2 – in the door and they will not give up until they own the whole house. . . and senate, Supreme Court, every Department of __  fill in the blank and every regulatory agency that controls our lives.

(Of course we all know that for these next 2 years at least, they can’t own THE House.)

Conservatives have to resolve this weekend that in the coming year we make more calls, send more emails, blog more and post more, carry signs if need be and make more noise while we hold the Congress’ feet to the fire. Many of them still need to be reminded that their jobs are dependent on the will of The People; that Congress is a right-to-work place and they hold their jobs only at the pleasure and will of The People. If it takes more than an election cycle or 3, in the end, they can and will be fired if they fail to uphold the Constitution. They are on notice.

Every single one of us have to redouble our efforts this year.  TheOne and his OtherOne (aka Michelle) cannot be allowed another term of White House cocktail parties, in-house concerts and globe jetting vacations at our expense.

We made great strides in ’10 and we can’t let up now.

We have huge battles ahead with immigration, unemployment, unions busting state and federal budgets, internet censorship, EPA, FDA and Department of Ag regulations, energy concerns . . .

Roll up your sleeves on Monday morning and do not forget:

We are the patriots. We are the in the right, on the right and the Right-eous.

And don’t argue with me on that.

Happy New Year!

FCC votes today to regulate the internet

Why does the government insist on screwing up things that aren’t broken?

There was nothing wrong with DADT. Does any employer ask about the sex life of any prospective employee? No one has ever asked me if I’m a heterosexual during a job interview. They can’t ask that question.

So now it appears that we are going to see the internet regulated by the government. The goal is to stifle conservative thought and speech but they are saying it’s to make it more fair to the consumer. Where in the Constitution does it say it’s the government’s job to make things “fair” in the markets or for the people?

The FCC says that big corporations like Verizon and ComCast aren’t being fair to it’s customers by slowing connections or not allowing connections to certain sites. If that’s the case then the customer has the option to change providers. And when enough customers drop the company, the failing company will either make changes to appeal to the population or they will fail entirely. That’s how the free market works. It’s called competition.

But the government can’t stand something that works well and is unregulated. Regulation means, in the end, more money for the government, as well as control over the content or production.

The FCC wants to make the internet available to everyone in this nation. Where is it not available? There is nothing that is holding anyone back from access. It’s free in every library in this nation and available in almost every school. It’s cheap in most markets. Is it the goal of the FCC to soon provide every household in this nation with a computer?

The FCC is violating a court order and the Congress by this action. Where does the FCC stop with this? Once one regulation is put in motion, nothing stops it from further regulations.  We all know that government has never stopped at one goal line. They keep moving the goal and keep regulating further. The real goal is to quash conservative thought and speech.

The day will come when I will have to pay for this blog or end it. That’s one of the FCC’s goals – another way to make money for the government and another way to stifle conservative speech. That means that conservative bloggers like me, will not be allowed this free speech forum. It’s already being done in Pennsylvania where a person has to pay $300 for a license to blog.

A license to blog – think about that. We will need permission by the government to exercise our free speech right. There will be countless sites that you will not be able to read or post your opinion to because there will be countless blogs that will no longer exist. It stifles the free speech of readers, as well.

This is going to be a boondoggle for lawyers. Litigation will rule the day and the free market and free speech will be in the dumper.

We have not even touched the surface of what this will do to small providers like Lariat in Wyoming which provides service to rural areas. They are looking at their demise at the hands of this behemoth regulatory agency.

The FCC is making an end run around the Courts, Congress and the Constitution. This is the only way the Obama Regime can erase the first amendment from the Constitution and that is what they want.

A Christmas message from Bill Whittle

Bloggers Block. I now know the meaning.

I know there was a time in my life when I could never recite the candidates for Senate in Delaware or for congress in Alaska.  I never understood how important a political race in Florida was to me, living out in Nevada or Arizona. In fact, I never thought it was all that important. I believed that the “red scare” was over with McCarthy and that I’d never see a battle to save the Constitution from a small elitist and leftist minority.  Like a majority of Americans, I’ve always believed in God but I never thought I would see a day, in America, where a mortal man would be revered and worshiped as the second coming.

I’ve always been busy raising kids and working to notice that my country was slipping away. Now we are on the cliff and about to lose it all. I know I’m no different than millions of other Americans. Most of us were not paying attention. We took for granted that the Constitution was always going to be there to protect us and that most politicians – I said MOST – believed that their service to America and to their constituents was almost a sacred calling.

But how things have changed.

I believe that, in the words of Mark Levin, this is the most important election of my life. I believed that the ’08 election was and we lost. In losing that election, we stepped to the edge of the cliff. I’m afraid that we will lose this time around and I’m not sure that we won’t finally go off that cliff. I’m disheartened that 20% of Americans consider themselves liberal: that nearly 2/3 believe America “is on the wrong track.” A majority don’t believe that their children will have an America as good as they’ve had, let alone a better America.

We are now racially and economically polarized. We can thank the president for that. From “cops acted stupidly” to the dismissal of the New Black Panther case, he has shown America on which side of the race issue he sits. Funny that he’s half white, and no one seems to want to acknowledge that, including Obama himself.  He demonizes business and insurance companies. Bankers and Wall Street are the havens of “fat cats.” If you make $251,000, you are rich and you are vilified.

Too many races are “too close to call.” Too close to call means that there are legions of lawyers waiting for contested races and when those go to court, liberals win. One need only look to Al Franken . . . If a race is separated by a couple of percentage points, it will be contested by the left. There will be no justice because the courts are packed against the Constitution and against the majority of Americans. Voter fraud seems to be taking place all over this nation. If you can’t trust the ballot and the ballot takers, who can you trust? I was going to vote early, but now I’m afraid that my vote may not be counted, at all.

I’m discouraged and disheartened. I’m afraid that on November 3rd, our nation, as we’ve known it,  will be dying.

I can’t blog and I think I finally know what writers block means.

Okay wait. . . this was a blog.

Deconstructing some media bias

from USNews.com:

In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn’t have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue.

Dontcha just love this media bias? For whom is the Second Amendment controversial? And why is it? It’s pretty clear to anyone who is literate:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

But the media love to throw in these buzz words and phrases – like controversial – to confuse and/or manipulate the readers thought process. And isn’t it kinda strange to call anything in the Constitution “controversial”? I don’t believe that the Founders intended for that document to be “controversial”. I really believe that they wanted the people to understand it, wrote it so that the people would understand it and they didn’t expect that over 2 centuries later we would need constitutional attorneys to explain it to us.

But hey, that’s just me.

The decision was a huge victory for the National Rifle Association which just seven days ago asked that the EPA reject the petition, suggesting that it was a back door attempt to limit hunting and impose gun control. It also was a politically savvy move to take gun control off the table as the Democrats ready for a very difficult midterm election.

This is the real reason that the EPA dropped this whole thing. The NRA had nothing to do with it, even though they are absolutely correct that this is nothing more than the first step on the ladder to gun control. It was the administration that sent word to the EPA to lay off the bullet thing in order to make it easier on the Democrats who are swimming against what we all hope and pray will  be a tsunami this election year.

And then there’s this from ABCNews.go.com:,

A conservative Alabama Democrat often criticized for backing Nancy Pelosi as House speaker dodged a question about supporting her again next year by saying she might get sick and die before he has to decide.

If someone is going to say something tasteless, rude or stupid, it will have to be someone with the CONSERVATIVE label before their name, whether they are Democrats or pachyderms makes no difference. The media is going to make damned sure they work that word in, anytime they can smear those who have a conservative ideology.

70 members of Congress belong to the Socialist party

Two things of note in this revelation. The first is the astonishing number of Democratic House members who not only belong to the Socialist Party of America but even more incredible, don’t mind if people find out about it.
From the Discover The Networks : “Until 1999, the Progressive Caucus website was hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America. After the press reported on this link, the connections suddenly vanished from both organizations’ websites.”
As DTN also points out, the Progressive Caucus works hand in glove with George Soros funded ‘Progressive Challenge,’ which is a project of the hard left Institute for Policy Studies.

from the American Thinker.

Hon. Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) is the Arizona Congressman who said (and I paraphrase) “go ahead and boycott Arizona. We deserve it” over the immigration law that is now tangled up in court thanks to Eric Holder’s DOJ.

Is it any wonder we are in such a mess when we have this many far leftists in Congress?

Quote of the Day – the Psychoanalyst in Charge

“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest… it’s not surprising they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” ~ Barrack Obama
