In a speech to the Heritage Foundation, Victor Davis Hanson said that “decline is a choice.” He’s right. As Americans, we can choose to do nothing and fade into a black hole or we can choose not to and come out even shinier and sharper.
We have been told for over 2 years, by this president that we are not exceptional, that we do not deserve the wealth (as a nation and as individuals) that we have earned. We see it in the movies and on television: we are not the good guys anymore. Americans are evil and greedy, we are gluttons, we are wasteful, fat and bloated. This is the message we are hearing from our so-called leaders, from the celebrities that we (falsely) admire, and from the educators in academia whose salaries we pay.
This message is not new coming from teachers or celebrities – we’ve been hearing that for decades from those corners – but it is new coming from our nation’s leader.
It is new for Americans to see a president bow to monarchs. A president who not only feels submissive to the rest of the world but wants to make the nation so, as well. In his warped mind, he believes it. He’s not proud to be an American and as all Americans know, his wife has only once been proud to be one.
Obama bowing to the Saudi king/WND.com
I believe that he is preparing us for the fall that he is creating. I believe that he wants us to feel unworthy of our place in the world so that when he ushers us into 3rd world status, we will be not only prepared but, feel deserving of that place.
The man who said he was going to be a unifier has divided us further. We are more polarized as a nation now, than since the Civil War. From his first missteps (“the police acted stupidly”) to his latest (“I’m here. Congress should stay here too” as he prepares for a weekend at Camp David and a vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and another round of golf on Sunday) he has proven himself to be completely out of touch with the people who put him there – and the people who didn’t put him there but who he represents.
Obama’s uplifting message (Yes We Can!) has become one of misery and depression. He’s produced a national gloom that we must shake off before we become forever mired in this depression.
We do not have to accept his vision of America in decline. It’s a choice. We must stand up and celebrate being citizens of the greatest nation and society mankind has ever known.
Now there’s proof positive that the circumcision ban in San Fransisco it anti-Semetic.
If the measure passes, circumcision would be prohibited among males under the age of 18. The practice would become a misdemeanor offense punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or up to one year in jail. There would be no religious exemptions. (emphasis mine) YahooNews.com
For a city that has bragged on it’s tolerance and progressive ideology, this is nothing short of being anit-Semetic, as well as anti-Muslim and unConstitutional.
This is blatant anti-Semetism and to make it worse (or more obvious) take a look at the cartoon from Zombie at PajamasMedia.com. (H/t Ace of Spades, who also has a great blog about this, complete with a Beck radio clip.) This is appalling and amazing at the same time.
Who’s in charge of PR for this anti-circ drive?
To add insult to injury (if that’s possible) according to Zombie, the cartoonists name is Hess. Shades of Nazi Germany.
If that isn’t Jew hatred, I’m a Chinese astronaut.
And everyone seems to have forgotten that Muslims require circumcision at age 12.
Female genital cutting, a controversial practice that usually involves the removal of the clitoris, is illegal in the United States. A circumcision ban would simply extend the same protections to males, [Lloyd] Schofield [spearheading this ballot initiative] said.
Here, we are talking about 2 separate things. A circumcision does not prevent male pleasure during sex. It does not prevent a man from experiencing an orgasm. A clitorectomy all but eliminates that pleasure for a female. Therefore there’s no comparison between the 2 proceedures. One is mutilation, (not controversial) to any thinking person. The other is a CHOICE, usually by parents, or it’s a religious requirement. Which brings us back full circle to anti-Semetism and Constitutional rights.
This is going to be tied up in the courts for a long time and in the end, the whole thing will be a waste of time and lots of money. This is unConstitutional on several levels. Not to mention it’s Jew hatred at it’s most obvious.
Shame on all of the people who are supporting this.
I know that almost everyone who reads here (all 4 of you) already get this in your email every morning, but it’s worth posting to my blog anyway, in light of the current White House resident:
“[The President] is the dignified, but accountable magistrate of a free and great people. The tenure of his office, it is true, is not hereditary; nor is it for life: but still it is a tenure of the noblest kind: by being the man of the people, he is invested; by continuing to be the man of the people, his investiture will be voluntarily, and cheerfully, and honourably renewed.” –James Wilson, Lectures on Law, 1791
I will leave it up to those who are more astute than I, but my initial response to TheOne’s speech in Tucson tonight was this:
It was the most inspirational and presidential speech I’ve heard from him in 2 years, and I’ve heard them all. He actually sounded, and made me feel like, he is the President of the UNITED States and not just the hard left.
By the same token, I’m extremely disappointed in John Boehner, who opted to stay in DC for a fund raiser instead of attending this memorial. There will be plenty of time to raise money but this is a one time, one day, one night opportunity to pay his respects to his colleague and to those victims.
I’m astounded by his lack of sensitivity. I hope I’m wrong and there is a good reason for his decision but at this point in time, I can’t see it.
Updated by me:
I had not tuned into this service early enough to see the Indian Medicine Man open the “ceremonies.” I got to see that this morning and I have to wonder why and who chose this way to open a memorial service. I can’t put into words exactly what this made me feel like but suffice it to say, it wasn’t comfortable.
I also want to clarify that I know this was only 1 speech by TheOne and does not indicate any kind of change in his future rhetoric. Nor do I expect him to change his demeanor. Standing alone, though, it was still a good speech.
I have heard some explanations about Boehner’s choice to stay in DC. I understand his choice, but still I question it.
I”m really sick and tired of this guy. He has documents that he is going to release piecemeal but he threatens that if he is arrested or shut down he will release them in a giant dump, I say release them in a giant dump and get it over with.
At this point we are most definitely dealing with a terrorist who is holding these documents (and potentially innocent people) hostage. He has now moved from being the self proclaimed harbinger of freedom and free speech to a thug of the worst order when he threatens the United States (and let’s face it, WE are his target) with this dump of information. This latest threat really shows his true colors. He’s an ordinary thug who is willing to put at risk people and nations to protect himself.
Why would we negotiate with him? Why should we?
And while I’m on this topic, who is aiding him? All this information did not come from one lonely, miserable PFC. Assange claims he has information damaging to BP and most probably Bank of America. One mischief making private didn’t give him all those documents. In fact, I find it hard to believe that this same private gave him the State department cables.
It’s time to release the dogs on Assange and bring him down. This little “sissy” irritant has had the headlines long enough and his attempts to intimidate and control American policy has to end.
You know, honestly when I realized that Chuck Schumer would likely be the next Majority Leader, it hurt less to see that Harry would still be in the Senate. And at first, I was disappointed about losing in the Senate until I was educated that it would be better for Conservatives in ’12 if we didn’t have both houses right now. And Pelosi is out!
Half a loaf is better than none.
I was very happy with a lot of the wins. Kirk in Ill, for one, was a great win! Toomey in PA, Marco Rubio and in Ohio, John Kasich for governor are great wins, too.
Of course, CA is a lost cause. A state that keeps Boxer, Waxman and elects Jerry Brown AGAIN, is past hope. Leave those people to their own destruction. If they really believe that Jerry Brown will save them, even a little bit, they are delusional. CA politics matter a lot to me because those folks leave in waves for Nevada and Arizona and when they do, they change the demographics of the state. Since 1989 when I first moved to Nevada, it’s become more blue and more democrat leaning due strictly to the CA exodus. I see that same thing in the southern part of AZ, too.
As for my state: All the ballot initiatives that I voted for, except for legalizing medical marijuana, passed. We will not have card check. We voted against the national health care and won. And affirmative action went down. The marijuana issue was a minor point for me compared to the other ballot questions so I’m not real disappointed.
Governor Brewer won handily. My Congressman, Trent Franks was re-elected just as easily. Both wins are good news. McCain is still standing, which is better than having his democrat opponent in place.
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of these voters say the average Democrat in Congress is more liberal than they are. Only 10% say that member of Congress is more conservative, while 27% see his or her views as about the same as theirs.
Fifty-five percent (55%) say it’s more accurate to describe the political views of most Democrats in Congress as extreme rather than mainstream.
Congress has to make the effort to repeal health care and hold back any more ridiculous spending.
And now we go to work firing Obama in ’12. I’m very optimistic about the next 2 years.
The United States will come under the spotlight at the UN’s top human rights assembly’s for the first time over the coming week along with other countries that face scrutiny by the Human Rights Council.
It’s not like I didn’t know this was coming, I’d just forgotten about it amid all the so-called crisis this last year that TheOne has told us that we have had to deal with.
The 12-day session of the 47 member council starting on Monday will include regular “universal periodic reviews” of 16 members of the United Nations, including the United States on November 5.
Several dozen non governmental organisation are expected to lobby the debate on the US human rights record, while Washington will also defend its record.
So the America hating Americans will come out from under their rocks to whine at the UN about the awful human rights record of the U.S. You know, all those public stonings of women and gays that happen here on a regular basis and the Obama administration has been ignoring?
Some 300 US civil liberties and community groups in the US Human Rights Network on Monday called on the Obama administration to bring “substandard human rights practices” in the United States into line with international standards.
“Substandard practices?” How about they go live iin Saudi Arabia or better yet, Iran for a month and then come tell us about the “international standards” that we aren’t matching up to. Or how about they just go there and STAY?
The United States only agreed to join the Council in May 2009, after the Bush administration had shunned the body which replaced its similar though discredited predecessor, the UN human rights commission, in 2006.
One more reason to miss President Bush and thank him, too.
The Network produced a 400-page report criticising “glaring inadequacies in the United States? human rights record,” including the “discriminatory impact” of foreclosures, “widespread” racial profiling and “draconian” immigration policies.
“Advocates across America have not only documented substandard human rights practices which have persisted in the US for years, but also those that reflect the precipitous erosion of human rights protections in the US since 9/11,” said Sarah Paoletti of the Network.
Oh gimme a break! This is not 1950 when blacks really were treated in a horrible way. We have a half African-American president that the majority of Americans voted for and yet, human rights have eroded in this country since 9/11? Who is this dope?
The United States has also faced widespread criticism by UN rights monitors in recent years over its handling of terror suspects and suspected torture, while concern over the conduct of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has been revived in recent months with “Wikileak” reports on leaked confidential documents.
They are criticizing us for what? Beheading suspects on youtube? Give me waterboarding anyday . . . please. And of course, there are all those human shields that our soldiers hide behind.
Each public, four-year, review is based on a report by the country, a compilation of non governmental organisation assessments and a one day debate with comments by its peers. No action is taken.
Well what a relief! No blue helmets in our streets or in our banks since no action is taken by them. . . yet. I mean seriously, they can’t control anything in the world, besides their own corruption so we really have nothing to worry about. But as far as I’m concerned, this is the time to take our ball and go home. Move the UN to Zurich and pull our support out.
Today in the Las Vegas R-J the freshman congresswoman is polling 10 points behind her challenger and in a very democratic area of Clark County.
Dina, you get to go back home and be tough talkin’. You and your party blew it.
Dina saw the writing on the wall while the rest of her party pretended that it wasn’t happening. Brown won in Massachusetts as well as Virginia and New Jersey going to Republicans. But still the democrats ignored the voters messages. I guess they thought the summer of recovery would make it all alright again.
What happened was the people got angrier for being ignored.
Hannan could be speaking to Obama and the Democrats in this very famous tirade:
Now, hear him last week at the Atlanta Heritage Foundation. Go to MyHeritage.org and sign in after clicking on his video on their home page. This man is such a phenomenal speaker and authority on American history. This video from last week in Atlanta is absolutely terrific. If you have time to listen, you won’t be disappointed.
“The worst impact of this growth of government is not – it’s chief ill is not that it makes the economy less competitive, it’s that it makes people less decent. It frays the bounds which used to tie society together.”
“My friends, you are not simply a random set of individuals born to another set of random individuals. You are the inheritors and the guardians of an exalted tradition.” Daniel Hannan
“Brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun,” 31-year-old Faisal Shahzad told a federal judge. “Consider me the first droplet of the blood that will follow.”

Obamas Wisdom and Terror in the Street
"We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever...we absorbed it and we are stronger."
