Too many of us are hearing but not listening

Imagine you can’t pay all your bills.

For the sake of simplicity, you owe $1000 this month but you only have $600. You will have to borrow $400 to make it through the month. Now imagine you have to do that every month for the next year. That’s $4800 you will need to borrow to pay your bills for the year. And you know that you’re going to have to borrow that same amount every month for the next year (and the foreseeable future.)

Now add the interest to that $400/month loan, that is if someone or some entity will loan you this money.  Interest at 13% (that’s a really good rate on your Visa card) adds $624/year to the balance or $52/month. So now you will owe $5424 for the year.

You know that you can’t pay your bills with the income you have now. You know that you can’t pay your bills without borrowing $4 for every $10 that you spend, or $40 for every $100 or $400 for every $1000. Or as in the case of the United States of America – .40 for every $1.00 that it spends.

What would you do?

You could start by calling  your banker or your credit card company and ask them to raise your borrowing limit.  Chances are real good they will laugh at you, before telling you no. And anyone with a high school education knows that raising your DEBT LIMIT will only dig your hole deeper in the long run.

So, you sit down at the kitchen table and prioritize. If you’re an average American, you start cutting out all the things you can do without so you can pay for the things that matter, like your mortgage and medicine and your personal yacht.

Then you put a lid or a cap on all your future spending.

No more dinners on Broadway or flying your favorite pizza chef in from Chicago.

No more Spanish vacations in your private jet. What? You don’t have a jet?

No more entertainment like those private Paul McCartney or Stevie Wonder concerts.

Next, you start looking around your house at the things you can live without and sell off. But remember, that’s only going to get you through a month or 2. Eventually, you’ll run out of things you can sell, unless you live in the White House and then there’s an unlimited amount of things of value to sell.

Maybe your Wall Street friends will throw fund raising parties for you. Oh please. Don’t tell me you have no Wall Street buds.

Publish a book with a well known terrorist ghost writing it for you? You don’t know any terrorists? Sucks to be you, then.

You don’t have a $10 million winery in California that you can sell? Oh, sorry. I’d mistaken you for Nancy Pelosi.

This isn’t our life. But we are shouldering the burden for these expenses and all the expenses that benefit everyone else, including and most irritating – the political class.

Most of  us would fore go our social security checks for a couple more years. Most of us would be willing to work a couple more years rather than dump these bills on our children and grandchildren. Most of us are willing to do with less or do without to balance our books and not leave unheard of debt for our kids.

And most of us would like to see the ruling class suffering just a little bit with us.

Money can’t buy you love but it sure can make life comfortable, even for communists.

When the Beatles formed Apple Records, one writer insisted it represented “the worker seizing control of the means of production.” The reality that Paul McCartney deeply resented England’s high tax laws and found a way around them by forming a label in the United States seemed lost on such writers. When McCartney described Apple as a “kind of Western communism,” he was talking a good Karl Marx but his actions were 100 percent Adam Smith: Apple launched a blizzard of new products and divisions – books, electronics, clothing, films – all for profit. [Not to mention the jobs it created worldwide.] Rock’s revolutionary character came from the quite capitalistic spirit of creativity itself, a point leftist interpreters frequently missed. [And still do miss, I might add.]

Gulf oil spill spells major inconvenience for the White House that still finds time for a party or 2

Remember that state dinner at the White House with Caldaron? Try and do a google image search and you will find NO pictures of it. I bet you can guess why there are no pictures of it.

You can, however, go here and see more than a dozen official photos. And they ought to disgust you.

After the “official” state dinner, these big shots were shuttled (in trams) to a tent like no other. God forbid these folks actually walk there. But tent is really a misnomer. It was a portable disco club, replete with an actual dance floor and laser lighting for the top-notch entertainment which included Beyonce.

There’s a photo of Obama and the missus, dancing together. I’ve seen him dance on the Ellen show. As a dancer, he stinks. There’s another photo that to me, appears to be staged of Obama preparing to kiss Michelle.

Indeed, this was a night to remember.

Right on the heels of this was the celebration of the Gershwin awards. Paul McCartney was being honored. I guess we don’t have enough talented and great Americans who qualify so we had to bring in a British Bush basher to honor.  His classless and unnecessary comments were cheered in the White House but it was the British press who quizzed over Paul’s past face lifts.

The First Family had a front row seat in the dream concert of a lifetime: a Beatle and Stevie Wonder in your own family room. What more could you wish for?

The extravagance of this White House while oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico is disgusting.  Obama wanders the coast and picks up tar balls for photo-ops and then goes home to party with his elitist friends.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one is worth a million:

This picture is worth a million words that I don’t have. This breaks the heart of all America. But nothing compares to what those people and creatures are suffering on the gulf coast. These people are without their livelihoods with families to feed.  A family night out for these folks, just like for us, is not a state dinner or a private concert with Paul McCartney. And now a family night out does not exist for most of them.

A job does not exist for  most of them.

But the president can party like it’s 1999 and golf every Sunday with no thought to what’s happening anywhere else.

His response?
“Just plug the damned hole.”

We all wish it were so easy, Mr. Too-cool-to-be-Bothered. We realize it’s an inconvenience for you. It’s no picnic for the gulf residents or for the rest of America, either.

The difference is that while our hearts break and many suffer, you’re cuttin’ a rug and clinking crystal.

You big jerk.

Will we ever know who this guy is?

I admit that I’m dumbfounded by this president. And I’m asking the same question I asked over a year ago, Who is this man?

On one hand, I think that Obama has to be the most naive person to ever sit in the oval office. Just look at his record with rogue nations like North Korea and Iran. I think that Obama really thought that if he could just talk to these evil men, he could charm them into seeing things his way. Just this morning, North Korean put it’s soldiers on war alert. If the North invades the South, how will we react? Or will we?

How out of touch with the American people do you need to be to set up a flag.gov site for neighbors to spy on each other and report to big brother? Did he really believe that this would fly (pardon the flag flying pun) with what we, as Americans, believe is fair and just?

On the other hand, he seems to be completely overwhelmed by the office he holds. A look at his response to the catastrophic oil spill is a good example. It has him paralyzed into inaction. His regime seems to be confused and befuddled into inactivity and forcing the governors of those states impacted, to take action alone.  But to be fair, what was his first act when he finally did do something? He sent lawyers to the gulf.

He totally ignored Nashville and it’s horrific flooding. Those citizens must feel real warm and fuzzy about him now.

And on the third hand (if I had one), he shows so much callousness and lack of class that it’s almost unbelievable. Where will he be on Memorial day? Not at Arlington. He’ll be throwing a party for Paul McCartney.  Has anyone forgotten how he treated Benjamin Netanyahu? Or the Dalai Lama? Compare that to how he treated the Mexican president last week with a state dinner.

(from frugalcafeblogzone.wordpress.com) Dalai Lama leaving through the WH back door.

His regime members okayed a fly over of Manhattan that terrified New Yorkers last year. While unemployment hovered near 10%, he took his wife out for dinner and a Broadway show, spending millions of dollars and disrupting the city. He spent more bundles on his family’s summer vacation at Martha’s Vineyard and a Christmas trip to Hawaii. (Let’s not forget that was at the same time as the Christmas panty bomber event, too.)  He can’t be bothered to take his children to church (because after all, he’s not a Christian) but he makes a show of his golf game every Sunday.

Christmas in Hawaii - "Wish you were here"

It’s been 10 months – TEN – since his last press conference. What does that say about him? Not only does he not respect the press that is so enamored with him but he’s afraid to speak off the cuff, sans a teleprompter for fear he might say something idiotic again, (rememeber “the cops “acted stupidly?”) Oh, he campaigns all the time, he’s speechifying constantly but never without a script, never without his teleprompter. Is it any surprise that his last press conference was the one that prompted a beer summit in the Rose Garden?

Rose Garden beer summit

I just don’t know who this president is. I don’t think there was ever a question, whether you like George Bush or not, who he was and what he stood for. But with Obama, we were sold a bill of goods during the campaign that he was the smartest man to ever run and then win the White House. If hes’ so smart, how can he keep doing such stupid and naive things? What does that say about the intelligence of his handlers?

For me, 2012 will not come soon enough. The one thing I know for sure about this man is that has got to go. He has to be sent back to his bastion of corruption in Chicago so that we can repair the damage he’s done.

Quote of the day – Paul McCartney

“It’s a good thing that America has done,” he [Paul McCartney] said of recently approved health care legislation. “From a British perspective it’s hard to see why everyone is so hot under the collar. You have a lot of poor people over there who aren’t under the umbrella. And now they are. That’s the important thing about it.”

Yeah well Paul, who’s going to pay for all this important stuff? The important thing is that none of this is FREE, pal and you should know that better than anyone. What’s  your tax percentage bill every year in Great Britain?

And rumor has it (in your own newspapers) that you came to America for plastic surgery a year or 2 ago.
