“If you stop licensing taxi cabs, tomorrow you will see guys and women on every street corner saying, ‘Who wants to go to XYZ address?’ (The cabbie) will put five people in the car and drive them to that address. … When the guy drops them off, if he’s smart, he’ll say: ‘Tomorrow — same thing, right? What do you guys want to drink for breakfast?’ There will be cappuccino and ice tea and glass of milk. After X months, he will have three cars; after X months, he will have a fleet. And everyone will be competing to meet the needs of the commuters, which also is going to reduce traffic. Why are they allowed to compete? Because the government got the hell out of the business.”

Will the media turn their misogynist Palin attacks on Bachmann?
Dennis Miller made an excellent point tonight on O’Reilly which Bill poo-pooed because it wasn’t his idea first. Let me say before I go on that I’m no Factor fan, I just like his guests and sometimes they’re able to get a complete thought expressed before Bill interrupts them. Frankly, Bill is annoying with his “looking out for the folks” meme all the time.
But I digress.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann
The point Miller made was that if the LSM goes after Michele Bachmann in the same ruthless and cruel way they’ve gone after Sarah Palin, the media will have established an MO. That won’t look so good for them. Do these liberal journalists want to appear to be the misogynists that they really are or would they rather stay in the closet? Miller gave great kudos to Palin for laying the ground work for all women to come after her because she’s taken all the abuse and heat – there can’t be any left unless the leftist media want to appear in the ugliest of lights. They will look like women haters – even if the woman in question happens to be conservative.
Party affiliation won’t matter a lot to the American people if they see the media pillaging yet one more UNDESERVING female candidate.
The people that both parties will be fighting for will be the independents: the so-called moderate Americans. They are leaving the democrat party because it’s been hijacked by leftist extremists. It’s no longer the party of their parents. It’s now the party of Che and Mao. And I’m pretty sure those moderate American voters don’t want to be aligned with communists. I think as it is, it will be hard for the democrats to win them back, but it will be especially hard if they see unfair and unnecessary gender abuse from the media, sanctioned by the democrat party.

Working out of the funk

Arabian Nights: King of the Black Isles by Maxfield Parrish
I’ve had a week or 2 of “just too much.” Too much information and too many events that are too depressing, too frustrating, too sad that I just had to walk away from it all for a while. There are some things I can’t walk away from, in my personal life. But there are things in the news that make me want to cry or scream at the stupidity and callousness of people.
I hate neglecting my blog and I really hate neglecting the blogs of my fellow bloggers, although I know they understand all too well how we all get overloaded on occasion.
Everyone feels information overload now and then, especially in these days of instant news.
One thing that’s really getting under my skin is all this polling nonsense. I don’t want to see anymore polls about hypotheticals. I don’t want to see anymore of those “if this person were running” what the outcome would be stats. If they’re not officially in the race, I don’t care. Let them do their own internal polling to decide if they should be in or not. In fact, it’s all too early to judge and we all have our own personal favorites. Intentional or not, this kind of polling news shapes the mood of the country.
I’m tired of the distortions and double standards in the news, primarily from the left. When will someone ask a democrat politician if he disavows Ed Schultz’ slut rant about Laura Ingraham? They ask the same stupid questions of republicans over anything that Rush Limbaugh says, although the worst I’ve ever heard Rush call a liberal woman is a FemiNazi. Why anyone should be expected to condemn the opinions of another is beyond me, but they do it all the time to republicans and conservatives. Why not ask a democat/liberal that same question?
What we see happening in the south with the flooded farmland and the tornado destruction is so heartbreaking. I don’t see the feds or the president in there doing a whole lot to help those people. Just a lot of lip service from TheOne. Most of those people, though would prefer that the feds stay out of their problems. They’d rather take care of themselves and their own. That’s the mentality of Americans in fly-over country. They are the originators of “YES WE CAN do it ourselves and better, thank you very much!” And they do and will.
/rant over.
You know, I’d rather write about Maxfield Parrish. He’s one of my favorite artists/illustrators. My daughter was born on his 110th birthday.

Quote of the day – Ann Coulter
Democrats don’t resent “the rich” on behalf of the poor. They resent the rich on behalf of the government.

Mock slave auction in a 4th grade class.
Have you read the story on Drudge about the 4th grade teacher in Norfolk, VA who set up a mock slave auction in her classroom? The story is copyrighted so I can’t post it here but you can find it at The Virginian-Pilot via Drudge.
This goofy liberal teacher separated her black and mixed race students and offered them for sale to her white students as a classroom lesson in — I’m not sure what. To teach 9 year olds mmmm I can’t really come up with a reason she would do something so stupid, so out of line, so really inappropriate, all in the name of being “well meaning” or “in everyone’s best interest” or “for the good of the children.”
To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, the statist restrict other people’s liberty and peace with a clear conscious because they are doing it for the greater good of those people who just really don’t know what IS good for them. They really see nothing wrong with these behaviors because they are doing what they believe is best for all of us. Never mind that most of us would just like to be left the hell alone.
The Virginian-Pilot goes on to report that last year a guidance counselor resigned her job after giving out 80-100 fetus figurines to elementary students; another left after parents complained that she had anointed a student with “holy oil”; while a third (high school teacher) was reprimanded after it came to light that he/she was teaching from anarchist materials and organizations that were pro-marijuana legalization.
Our tax dollars at work, boys and girls.
Where do you find a fetus figurine? Let alone 100 of them? And more importantly, how is that possibly age approriate for an elementary age child? And whether this counselor was pro-life or pro-abortion, matters not because it simply has no place in elementary school.
I just cannot imagine what these teachers are thinking. I’ll say this, though, they are good promotion for home schooling.

Random thoughts for Monday
These unions get us coming and going. Morning Bell at the Heritage Foundation says that the teacher’s “sick-in” could cost Wisconsin taxpayers up to $6million. A story from MacIver Institute, explains how much these work absences will cost the state, thanks to “doctors” who are signing work excuses to protesters on the picket lines. No one knows how many of these “doctors” are even genuinely licensed.
The unions are doing nothing but alienating public opinion. Those of us in the private sector are watching this and seeing how much these folks will be getting in pensions and we aren’t liking it. And we are liking less, the protesters when they are asked to shoulder a little of the burden that we have had to carry for years. So, I say keep it up. Membership in unions is declining (it’s under 11% of the work force now) and they aren’t doing anything positive for their cause.
~~~ooOoo~~~
I have to ask: how smart is it to take your spring break in Mexico or go hiking along the Iranian border or to sail your yacht along the coast of Somalia? I mean, seriously.
~~~ooOoo~~~
I hope the Republicans who voted with the Democrats on the budget last week have some kind of good explanation for doing so. Some of those defecting to the dark side were Tea Party candidates and all of them ran on budget cuts and repealing ObamaCare, when they were elected last November. This is highly disappointing. And sure does make me question my faith in the party.
~~~ooOoo~~~
And then there’s this:
For 50 years, Democrats have harbored traitors, lost wars, lost continents to communism, hobnobbed with the nation’s enemies, attacked America’s allies, and counseled retreat and surrender. Or as they call it, ‘foreign policy.’ As Joe McCarthy once said, if liberals were merely stupid, the laws of probability would dictate that at least some of their decisions would serve America’s interests.” –columnist Ann Coulter
But we know that none of their decisions have served America. . .
The most evil: Kermit Gosnell and health departments in PA
Kermit Gosnell, abortion butcher
This man is despicable. But more despicable is the non-existent oversight in Pennsylvania, the lack of protection for women and babies in this state. If I hear another politician say that he is in favor of safe and rare abortions, I’m gonna puke. No one, at least in Pennsylvania, really cares about ‘safe and rare’ or the best health care for women and babies. If they did, this clinic would have been closed long – LONG – ago.
If this is not proof that the liberals do not care about minorities and especially in this case, minority women, nothing does. This ‘doctor’ and I use the word loosely, preyed on the most poor, frightened and ignorant among us. He took their money and took no concern in their health, welfare or even their lives. He delivered viable babies and killed them.
And all this under the noses of physicians in positions to stop this, state medical boards that apparently wanted to protect the rights of doctors, health departments who could have shut him down but ignored complaints, politicians who gave lipservice to protecting the rights of women to choose.
Did those poor, frightened women have any idea what they were choosing? Did they know that their unwanted, unborn babies would have their spinal cords snipped and their babies body parts preserved in pickle jars and milk cartons, decorating his office and stored in his office refrigerator?
Oh, I think not.
And to add insult to injury, Gossnel was preforming abortions after the legal gestational age. (24 weeks is the limit, after that abortions are criminal in the state of Pennsylvania.)
Did these women know that they would leave his office with venereal disease, perforated organs and raging infections? Did they know that they would leave his office sterile?
Was it worth the $400 cash and late night abortions, for all this?
There should be no doubt what the answer is.
Where in all of this is NOW? Not a word from them – AGAIN – about something that threatens the health, welfare and life of women, especially minority women who they brag so loudly that they champion and protect.
There is no justice for a man like this. But he is not alone in guilt. The entire liberal system should be held to account for this. The evidence is clear: he is a murderer and the system is just as culpable. There is no concern by the liberals for the welfare of the poor, there never has been. Pennsylvania was run by pro-abortion politicians for decades. Their excuse to not securing and protecting the health and safety of the female patients was their concern that they would be erecting barriers to their almighty right to choice! These progressives have protected and by silence, encouraged the very thing they profess to want to eradicate: back alley, midnight abortions and abortion butchers.
I call BullShit on all of that! They care nothing for those most vulnerable patients – the women and the unborn babies. What they do care about is the votes they will get from those mostly minority communities.
In the end, it’s all about the votes, even if it means you have to lie to minorities to get them.
Just call me the turtle fence sitter
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say this is the stupidest thing I’ve read all day – even though the day is only 6am where I live and there’s plenty of time for more stupid things. And it’s a sure bet that there will be equally if not superior stupid things yet to come in this 24 hour period.
Number 1, this bill will never pass due to privacy issues and because of that, it should not pass. I sure wouldn’t want anyone for a mere $100 to be able to get my birth certificate.
Secondly, this bill would not even have been contemplated if the president of the United States took 5 minutes out of his busy schedule filming YouTube videos to tell us to stop eating tater tots, to clear this up, once and for all. But if he really is an American citizen, it’s to his benefit to keep up the conspiracy theories.
Regardless of the truth about his citizenship, this is a win/win for him. He need say nothing and just let the liberal media loose on the “birthers.”
Up until now, for the most part, those who opposed Obama’s policies could not just be opposed to his policies on principle and facts but because they are racist. Now the liberal media and bloggers can include nutty, right-wing birther conspiracy theorists. But they won’t say it that nicely.
I can see all the angles to this birth certificate issue. Part of me agrees with the so-called birthers, while another part of me is cynical enough to think that Obama has just nurtured this conspiracy thing to his benefit.
So, to make my opinion clear on this topic :
