Nevada democrat sounds a little scared

Glenn Cook/Las Vegas Review-Journal

Dina Titus is the last person I would have expected to channel Dick Cheney. Like the former vice president, Titus dropped the F-bomb in a frank conversation with democrats. Unlike Cheney, who in 2004 famously urged Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., to indulge himself in a physically impossible sex act, Titus directed the profanity at her own party. The Nevada representative, in a closed meeting with fellow House freshmen and Speaker Nancy Pelosi two weeks ago, said that democrats everywhere would be “f—ed” if they didn’t learn from this month’s loss in the Massachusetts special senate election.

A Republic, If You Want It

What Constitution did they swear to uphold?

Unbelievable: taking the Court to task for upholding the First Amendment with not only applause but a standing ovation. Do we need any more proof that these politicians have no regard or no understanding  of the Constitution that they swore to uphold?

These people need to be sent packing this year. And Obama lied in his scolding.

Who’s guarding the henhouse?

Read it here.

According to Judicial Watch, Charlie Rangel has “shared” his campaign contributions with 3 of the 5 democrat members of the Ethics committee and another 116 members of the House.

He’s paying off the very committee that is supposed to be investigating him…

All lines are busy

You cannot make a call to the U.S. House of Representatives or the Senate. The lines have been busy for hours.

You cannot leave a message for Speaker Nancy Pelosi – Her “voice mailbox is currrently full.”

You cannot leave a message for Senator Harry Reid – His “voice mailbox is currently full.”

And their offices are closed so there is no staffer to even take your call. Convenient how they close their offices and cannot take calls, but can still speechify on the floor and in front of cameras and vote on a bill.

Such a class act

H/T to RedState.com:

A complete jackass.  He’s reportedly raised lots of money since his “Republicans want you to die quickly” line on the House floor. Obviously, those follks in Florida that he represents are a real classy bunch, too.

From Politico.com:

“There’s no call for that language. No call for it. That’s absurd. If he was standing here now, I’d say that to him,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.)

“He’s out of control,” added Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who is vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference.

It’s clear that his colleagues’ opinion of him has suffered.

“Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” asked Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)

Diminishing the impact and looking stupid

Holocaust? Oh come on. How much lower on the name calling and vilifying  will they get? Will Nancy come out with her crocodile tears and bemoan the mean spirited exchanges coming from her house? I doubt it because they think they are justified in their attacks.

Keep throwing out these charged words (racist, nazi, holocaust, klansmen) and you diminish their meanings.

If this is the level of intelligence we have making our laws, this is then an indicator of how smart we are.

huh? No free speech on the House floor anymore!

When you control the language, you control the thoughts…

House guidelines for Presidential put-downs

House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) has released a helpful, updated primer for members regarding their conduct on the floor and in committees.

Especially useful: The section on how to properly insult the executive branch in the in the chamber.

“Disgrace” and “nitwits” — okay.

“Liar” or “sexual misconduct” — ixnay.

Under section 370 of the House Rules and Manual it has been held that a Member could:

• refer to the government as “something hated, something oppressive.”
• refer to the President as “using legislative or judicial pork.”
• refer to a Presidential message as a “disgrace to the country.”
• refer to unnamed officials as “our half-baked nitwits handling foreign affairs.”

Likewise, it has been held that a member could not:

• call the President a “liar.”
• call the President a “hypocrite.”
• describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.”
• charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.”
• refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
• refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.”

h/t Marty Kady, who is neither a nitwit nor a liar.
