Although he plays one on TV, Obama is no statesman

I’ve argued before that Tony Blair and Barack Obama have an awful lot in common. Both are lawyers; both are snake-oil-salesman; both claim to be post-partisan, and Third Way and consensual; both play the acceptable, moderate-seeming public face of a regime chock full of Communists, class warriors, single issue rabble rousers, malcontents, communitarians and eco-loons hell bent on destroying every last vestige of what once made their country great. And both do (or did) the things dodgy political leaders always do when the going gets tough at home and their domestic audience finally wises up to how totally useless they are: they hop on the plane and pose as international statesman instead. James Delingpole/UKTelegraph (emphasis mine.)

Isn’t that an interesting observation (from a Brit, no less) considering the geo-political education Obama got last week from Benjamin Netanyahu?

Have you seen the movie Soapdish? The scene: Soap opera star and “America’s Sweetheart” Celeste Talbert (Sally Field) has been dumped by her boyfriend and is being maneuvered by political ner’do-wells at work. She’s depressed and emotionally falling apart when her friend and writer at the Sun Also Sets, (Whoopi Goldberg) takes her to the mall and pretends to be a fan. This incites all the shoppers to gather ’round Celeste and beg for autographs and go all gah-gah over her. Just the “worship fix” Celeste needed.

When I saw Obama in Ireland today, in front of thousands of cheering, adoring fans, I thought immediately of that scene in Soapdish. In his own version of television soap opera, Obama’s not getting the kind of reception in America that the Irish have lavished on him, and in fact he’s been getting a lot of criticism, so I’m sure he’s in need of a little messiah worship infusion. He’ll get it from those European socialists who want nothing more than to slobber all over the first Black American president.

Delingpole’s blog is a definite must read. You’ll enjoy it and be sure and read his link to a previous story about Michelle.

On another topic: Doesn’t Hillary look good since she got that LifeStyle lift?

Oh to be a fly on the wall. . .

H/t to LeatherneckM31

Please read his blog regarding the events that led up to the assault on bin Laden’s “mansion.”  I think it’s going to be enlightening to some and will verify what others of us have already believed about this president and his regime.

I don’t believe that Obama would be out golfing and have to be pulled off the course, if he knew that this assault was taking place. I also know from reading Game Change that Obama doesn’t take a dump without notifying Valerie Jarrett first and that fits in well with the narrative on Leatherneck’s blog.

Now, for interesting aside, also via Leatherneck and the UK Mail is the sketchy story of the other woman in the situation room – Audrey Tomason.  I think this lady was with the CIA and her cover has been blown or at least compromised by this administrations haste to get out a photo.

Michael Barrett, a national security expert and principal at strategy firm Diligent Innovations, suggests that the photograph outed a sensitive national security employee.

He said: ‘You can make a reasonable deduction that she’s a member of the intelligence community. Is that a story [the White House] wants to put out there in public? The fact that we can see her face could potentially jeopardize her career.’

If this is true and she has been outed, what idiot in the White House approved this photo for release?

“Let’s stop that nonsense that if only the women were in charge, there’d be no more wars!”

This is from April 3rd. You’ve probably seen this guy on Fox and this is not the same cool, collected man I’ve seen on television in the past. Gerald Celente of Trends Research:

The blog every ‘Birther’ should read – and all the rest of us on the right, too

I went looking for the blog that my good friend AFVET mentioned in another post regarding our START treaty with Russia and stumbled on this one. Everyone should read it.

Although I’ve waffled on this topic and can see both sides of the issue, mostly I’ve believed that this whole birth certificate thing is a red herring. It’s being used to set up the right as the nutwings the progressives believe we are. This is an issue that the left wants in the news, daily. And this Abercrombie in Hawaii is as stupid as a fox by using it to whip up more and more headlines in order to make conservatives look more and more nutty.

Did you know, for instance that this birth certificate thing all started with the Hillary movement, in 2008? Or that Orly Taitz (the lead attorney in this whole thing) is a democrat donor? And that a lot of this hoopla about the certificate has been fowarded by 9-11 truthers?

Well, I for one, had no idea of these things. But the author of this blog seems to have evidence to those assertions. And I find no reason to doubt his statements. And I admit to pretty much ignoring this BC topic because I believe, in the end, that it’s going to be a hammer used to beat us up and win this election for Obama.

When I read that this governor was going to “settle this birth certificate thing once and for all,” I smelled a rat. There is no way that this was going to happen without the imprimatur of the White House. Abercrombie, the self avowed socialist, was not working unilaterally. Obama’s people had to be involved in this. If the gov’s goal was to settle this, then why didn’t the WH just produce the thing and settle it?

I think it’s clear why they didn’t. They want to use the birthers to beat up on the right during this next election. Of course, the beating up will not OFFICIALLY come out of the Obama campaign. It will be a whisper campaign that will then be carried and screeched by all MSM.

The birthers want the same thing that the all conservatives want: a one term president. They need to quiet down this whole thing and let it ride until we vote him out.  Otherwise this is going to be used to beat the right – all of the right – over the head. This could change some independents minds come November 2012, who were likely NOT to vote to reelect him.

If the birthers turn out to be right, this can all be settled after we vote him out of office.

But who knows – maybe in the eleventh hour of this election, like a Hail Mary pass, someone will produce the real birth certificate, make the birthers look like wingnuts and a little thing like that could swing the election for Obama.

Micheal Medved: New and younger faces in the GOP

from TownHall.com

It’s true that the November elections brought prominent winners in both parties, but the contrast between Democratic and Republican victors is highly revealing.

The biggest Democratic success stories involved re-elected Sens. Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid, and new California governor Jerry Brown – all age 70 or above! The GOP, meanwhile, hailed breakthrough victories for 39-year-old Sen. Marco Rubio in Florida, 43-year old Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin, 38-year old Governor Nikki Haley in South Carolina, 42-year- old Sen. Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire, 47-year-old Sen. Rand Paul in Kentucky, and many other youthful candidates bringing fresh, conservative perspectives to high office. Moreover, with Hillary Clinton ruling out a future presidential race, Joe Biden reaching age 74 by 2016, and John Edwards utterly unthinkable, what younger generation Democratic star could plausibly succeed Obama?

The Democrats, in other words, have become a party of shop-worn retreads while the GOP bench is full of next-generation leaders of potential national stature, including Governors Chris Christie of New Jersey, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Rick Perry of Texas, Mitch Daniels of Indiana, Senators John Thune of South Dakota, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, and many more.

Looking toward the future, the rising stars of the GOP not only look more vibrant and dynamic than the Pelosi/Reid Democrats, they also count as increasingly diverse.

After the recent elections, skeptics can no longer deride the GOP as an all-white party of grumpy old men. Marco Rubio, 39, became the new Senator from Florida while fellow Latino Republicans Bryan Sandoval in Nevada and Susana Martinez in New Mexico became the nation’s only two Hispanic Governors. Jaime Herrera, age 31, captured a Democratic Congressional seat in Washington State, while Raul Labrador did the same in Idaho. Two more Hispanic Republicans– Bill Flores and Quico Canseco—knocked out incumbent Democrats in Texas. In South Carolina, Indian-American Nikki Haley won for Governor while black conservative Tim Scott beat Strom Thurmond’s son (among others) for a Congressional seat. Alan West, an African-American Iraq War hero, trounced an incumbent white Florida Democrat.

In the new Republican House of Representatives, eight members of the GOP majority will proudly qualify for a potential “Republican Hispanic Caucus.” Geraldo Rivera may dismiss such victories as “window dressing,” (as he did recently on Fox News) but they have changed both image and substance of the GOP.

Condi meets with Obama – interesting theories

from Yahoonews via Drudge.

You have to wonder about this meeting at this particular time. Could he be considering the need for a new Secretary of State sometime in the future? And if so, why? Is he thinking of dumping Joe for Hillary in ’12? Would Hillary even consider that position? Personally, I doubt it. But that doesn’t mean that TheOne isn’t going to try and charm her into the VP slot. And he’s vain enough to believe he can do it.

By the same token, it’s hard for me to imagine Condi supporting such a leftist administration.

It’s probably nothing more than a meet-n-greet, polite exercise but it does make for some imaginative and fun speculation.

Real Estate is moving for some of us

Rush's NY bedroom, complete with painted ceiling

Rush is making a chunk of change off of his NY penthouse. I think I read that it’s selling for just under $11million. Good for him! He’s signed a few paychecks over his  career. He’s running a company, or should I say, an empire and he’s been instrumental in providing a few jobs, here and there, unlike our president.

The probable Clinton estate

The Clintons claim to millions – and an estate reminiscent of the Kennedy compound sans the beach and a few dozen or so kids and grandkids- is thanks to a couple of likely ghost-written books and well placed connections.

(By the way, I’ve read none of their books and plan not to. Autobiographies are written only to glorify the auto part of the story. Usually, biographies are more fair to the party in question.)

I found these 2 stories on Drudge today to be really interesting and very juxtaposed in position.

Our leader suffers from an STD (Short-Timers Disorder)

I was too young to remember this devastating ad:

But from all historical accounts, it was definitely an election changer. It’s been shown many times over the years for that reason and I can see why it was a real game changer. During the last election, I saw the maker of this ad on a news show and this is one political ad that hit a home run and will live on in history for how it affected the electorate.

Which brings me to this ad:

Even though Hillary lost, this is another high impact ad. It reinforced my opinion, when I saw it that Obama was not the right guy to sit in the oval office. It gives you pause to think: Who do you want taking that call? Who do you trust to do the most right thing?

Even his running mate gave reason for voters to question the decision to elect Obama:

Obama’s been tested from all sides and he shows nothing but annoyance (or naivety or downright incompetence) to events, not decisiveness or a vision of purpose during any critical event that he has faced. The only time he shows determination in a purpose is when it’s a crisis he has generated (remember the “health care crisis”?)

In the book Game Change by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, at a time while Obama was still debating his run for president, he asks his handlers if he can be home every weekend during the campaign. When I read this little paragraph in the book, I was astounded. Is it just me, or does this sound a little naive? Did he think that running for president of the United States was going to be a 5 day work week, 9-5 job? Did he think this was a day job? And does he think that while he’s president, he can close shop at 10pm and turn out the lights?

I think he does. And I think that anything that happens while he’s “indisposed” will be nothing short of an annoyance and a distraction. I just do not believe that he ever had a clue what this job entailed, what level of responsibility living in the White House requires. (It was reported that during the transition, and after Bush had met with Obama, Bush told one of his aides that “this cat is clueless.”) As I’ve said before, I think he knows he’s a one-termer and he’s going to get all the perks he can get from this job – traveling the world, seeing everything, hosting glittering parties for celebrities, enjoying private concerts and flying in chefs from all over the country.

All the while, he’s standing back and letting his underlings write policy, draft bills and generally run the country and the world. (If he knows nothing else from community organizing, he knows how to delegate. Hence, all the czars in this government.)

All of this rambling brings me to this column by Alex Pappas in today’s Daily Caller.

It’s official, NO one in this administration has a brain

Fom the Washington Post via DC Caller

Jeffrey Lewis, director of the Nuclear Strategy and Nonproliferation Initiative at the New America Foundation, said releasing the U.S. numbers would be “a major step forward in transparency.”

“The United States has not gotten enough credit for the reductions it has made,” he said. “That’s even true of the Bush administration. . . . It makes it easier for us to make the case we are in fact reducing the number of nuclear weapons.”

The Titan nuclear missle

Undamnedbelievable! Now the entire world is deserving of “transparency”? Americans haven’t even gotten that from this administration but we owe North Korea and Iran this? Oh hell, let’s let them loose in our nuclear power plants, too. Tour our nuclear subs. For cryin’ out loud… where is congress at? Is no one even a little appalled at this?

Burt Prelutsky – good column

Obama and the Jews

By Burt Prelutsky (Archive) · Monday, April 12, 2010

During the presidential campaign, a lot of people insisted that Obama was really a Muslim pretending to be a Christian. I wasn’t one of them. I did figure, though, that if my name was Barack Hussein Obama and I was going to run for president a mere seven years after 9/11, I wouldn’t admit I was a Muslim, either. On the other hand, I, personally, would have sooner trusted a Muslim who’d been attending a mosque in Dearborn for 20 years than a Christian who’d been attending a racist, anti-American church in Chicago for all that time.

Anybody, after all, can claim to be a Christian. The proof, in the words of that fabulous effing wordsmith, Joe Biden, is in the pudding, and when I learned that among Obama’s friends and mentors were such notorious anti-Semites as Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Rashid Khalidi and Father Pfleger, it certainly kick-started my suspicions about his religious convictions. Still, as I saw it, when in Chicago, you do as Chicagoans do. And, that being the case, I figured that in such swampland, even if a saint were to wade into Chicago politics, he would eventually be knee-deep in snakes and alligators named Tony Rezko, Richard Daley and Bill Ayers.
