The power to shut off my laptop

Right now, in my household there’s a subtle feeling of doom. I’m in the process of finding a new job so my contribution to the household income is in flux. We had a plan to pay off all our debts (aside from the mortgage) in the next 6 months but it seems like as soon as we think we are getting ahead, something comes along and throws a wrench in the works.

But we are no different than anyone else and in fact, we are better off than many. We could be living on the gulf coast right now and depending on the fruits of the gulf that are dying before our eyes or tourism dollars that aren’t materializing, to feed our family.

Things could be so much worse. And they very well might get worse.

I keep reading that next year we will be paying more taxes. I already need to save several hundred dollars a month to pay my taxes and they will be higher next year? You’ve got to be kidding me, right? More in taxes for what? For less liberty.

I read this story tonight via Drudge Report and it makes me sink further into this morass of gloom. Obama can shut down the internet for up to 4 months if this bill passes.  No one will ever convince me that this is related to national security concerns. This is all about shutting down speech that has become inconvenient for the left. They don’t want any more James O’Keefe or Hannah Giles exposing scams like ACORN. No more Matt Drudge or Andrew Breitbart. No more YouTube videos that catches a politician man-handling a college student on the street for asking a simple question.

Is this what it will take to wake up our fellow citizens? When they lose the internet will they finally realize that tObama is not what he was billed? I’m hoping that any legislator who votes for this bill will be defeated in November (or whenever he/she is up for re-election.)

Shut down the internet? This is incredible to me. It follows that he could turn off our television, too. He could leave us totally in the dark with no voice and nothing to hear or read. The implications of this has got to scare anyone with a functioning brain. There is already technology out there that can control our thermostats from some remote bureaucrats desk somewhere. The government could control how cold or warm our homes are or how many times a week we run our washing machines.

And now they want to control what we KNOW and LEARN? What we say, read and write? We have got to stop this. This has been a dramatic take-over of America. It has happened so fast that most of us have no idea what new laws and regulations have been imposed on us. You have to spend 10 hours a day reading the news and the bills to even have a clue what they are doing to us.

They are counting on fatigue and surrender from the citizens to get all this stuff past us. It’s what I’ve been feeling for the past week. I’ve not been able to post anything to my blog because of this overwhelming feeling of doom. They want us to get tired and give up.

We simply can’t give up and surrender our rights and our nation to these marxists. This has to be stopped.

My Tea Party day

I started the day from work, ran home and packed the essentials – my computer, camera and medicine and then drove to Searchlight. The traffic was incredible. When I got to ‘downtown’ Searchlight there was a crowd of about 2 dozen Reid supporters on the corner. Wish I could’ve gotten some pictures of them. The rally was 2 miles outside of town. I parked off the highway and walked a good bit to get to the dusty valley where the stage and port-a-potties were set up. When I arrived there were only a few hundred folks. When I left there were several thousand. Estimates range from 5,000 to 20,000. All I know was when I turned around to walk out of the “mosh pit” I was in, there was a sea of people behind me and the traffic leaving was more amazing than it was coming in.

There were 4 jet skywriters that spelled out things like “Vote Harry Out” and “Thank you Sarah”. Those guys got lots of ooohs and aaahs from the crowd.

I met so many great people.

One family I met had just relocated to Bullhead City AZ from Flint, Michigan. They had a $150,000 home on 5 acres and sold it for $35,000. Had there been no home on the land, they could’ve sold it for $50,000. Michigan is, as we all know, in the crapper. They had an 8 year old son with them.

When Sarah finally took the stage, I couldn’t see her but I could hear her. She was GREAT!

I didn’t get any pictures of the rally in Henderson but it was surprising how many young people and young families were there – parents who are scared for their children’s future. There were many college age people there. It was a really up lifting day and something I needed, to be sure. I’ve been feeling pretty dragged down since this health care passed.

Ann Coulter got the first of several standing ovations and was a one-liner after another. The crowd loved her, as do I.

Hannah Giles got another standing ovation when she took the stage for a few brief remarks and to introduce Andrew Breitbart.  The man I came to see! He told the story of his arrival earlier in the day in Searchlight – what he called a moonscape. He said that some man on a corner was holding a sign “directing” folks to the tea party site – except it was the wrong road which he fully admitted to Andrew. As the Tea Party Express buses turned down that road (the wrong road) they were pelted with eggs. Some one threatened Andrew with the words “you’d better get out of here or I’ll be spending the night in jail.” And someone else called the sheriff and claimed (unbelievably) that Andrew had thrown the eggs!!! When the sheriff arrived and Andrew pointed to his film crew and the video tape of the entire event, including the real egg tossers, the sheriff sauntered off and the whole thing was dropped. Meanwhile the msm kept on driving by, too. Another story that almost no one will know about.

It was a long, dusty day, complete with dozens of text messages between my family and I. Everyone worried that I would fall asleep driving. I think I was awake for 38 hours before I finally died at my son’s house in Las Vegas last night.

It was all worth it. A very inspiring day with thousands of inspired people.

Is the MSM paying attention… yet?

If you have 33 minutes, I can promise you it will be the best you spend this week listening to Breitbart’s Tea Party Convention speech.

Christian Science Monitor/Patrik Jonsson

Nashville, Tenn.

Recounting the exploits of two young reporters who went undercover to uncover the ACORN scandal, online publisher Andrew Breitbart on Saturday exhorted a widely held view among those in the tea party movement: Liberals and media organizations “can no longer control the narrative.”

The rise of conservative media outfits like Breitbart’s Big Journalism [bigjournalism.com] and Big Government and Tucker Carlson’s The Daily Caller [thedailycaller.com] have offered a kind of counter-media that, in Breitbart’s view, tells the stories that the mainstream media won’t tell Americans – including that of the nascent tea party movement, which has grown largely by Twitter, Facebook and via blogs like Glenn Reynolds’ Instapundit [instapundit.com].

Technology the great equalizer

“Technology has been a great equalizer,” says Judson Phillips, founder of the Tea Party Nation website, a sort of tea party Facebook that sponsored this weekend convention. “It reminds me of how the British used old-style tactics and the patriots would be behind the trees, shooting.”

In a fiery speech to the first-ever National Tea Party Convention on Saturday, Breitbart – who runs his counter-media empire from his basement office in Hollywood – painted a vivid picture of a press in lockstep with liberal values, where reporters use words like racist and homophobe as weapons to suppress dissent. (At that point, a woman wearing a t-shirt that said “I resist” stood up and waved.)

Breitbart said reporters put all news involving conservatives into two basic buckets: “racism and Watergate.” He urged the 600 tea party activists gathered at the Opryland resort in Nashville to take inspiration from conservative reporters like James O’Keefe, the videographer behind the undercover ACORN expose.

“I’m trying to tell you, wink, you can do it, too. You have cameras! You have ingenuity!” he said. “What we are starting to do is create our own media … that is reporting what the mainstream media refuses to tell you .We are exposing the corruption of the mainstream media.”

Breitbart’s may have a point. Proof to many here is how the mainstream media for weeks missed the story of Scott Brown’s surging candidacy in Massachusetts (one likely reason for all the interest in the Tea Party Convention), or how the New York Times put Mr. O’Keefe on page 1 only after he was arrested for alleged phone-tampering at Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in New Orleans.

Jabs at the mainstream media

But while the roomful of tea partiers stood up at several of Breitbart’s jabs and pointed to the TV cameras at the back of the room, the fact that there were TV cameras there at all partly undermined Breitbart’s point that mainstream reporters are totally out of touch.

Convention organizers realized it, too. After originally banning all but a few mostly conservative outlets, the organizers ultimately opened the convention doors wide, even allowing media into Sarah Palin’s speech tonight.

True, some of the ensuing coverage has been critical and snide. But the willingness of people like California tea party activist Heather Gass to speak her mind to mainstream reporters may do as much, or more, to legitimize the tea party movement as the counter-media’s attention.

“People can now see who we are and they can see that we’re not dangerous,” says Ms. Gass. “We’re their neighbors.”

Not everyone agrees. One caller to C-Span – which aired nearly the entire convention – said the sight of primarily white and older self-described “patriots” frightened her. She said the gathering looked like a lynch mob.

But the fact is that the 200-plus old-school reporters attending the convention is giving the potent but inchoate movement something it craves and, ultimately, needs: respect.

That includes a Swedish radio reporter who sent an earnest piece back to Sveriges Radio on Friday, explaining how a modern-day tax revolt movement that appeared at first to be woefully fringe is looking more and more mainstream.

Another ACORN video today

According to The Hill, at some point today, Reps. Steve King (R-Iowa) and Thad McCotter (R-Mich.) will be appearing with Giles, O’Keefe and Breitbart with the release of a new video from the ACORN Philadelphia office. This office was said, by ACORN, to have refused the duo any help setting up a child prostitution ring and, in fact, had kicked them out of the office.

I think that once this video is released, we’ll find out differently. And once again, Bertha Lewis and ACORN will be shown to be a lying, criminal organization.

Announced on Laura Ingraham this morning

Press conference tomorrow morning with Breitbart, Hannah Giles and James O”Keefe.

More ACORN videos to be shown and released.

Should be a fun thing to watch!

In a league of their own

But while some conservatives think O’Keefe and Giles were doing journalists’ jobs, “most news organizations consider such tactics unethical.”

Call the secret ACORN videotapes by Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe what you like, said Howard Kurtz in The Washington Post. Just don’t call it journalism.

(Entire column here.)

I’ll leave the debating up to the “real” journalists as to whether Giles and O’Keefe are “real” journalists: those guys who sat on their hands and did nothing while everyday a new video was released; those guys who tried to turn a blind eye to the ingenious work of 2 kids who blew the top off of arguably the most corrupt organization in the country. Now those “real” journalists are suffering bruised egos and bloodied reputations. If the public didn’t respect them before, their opinions of reporters now are in the dumper.

It’s ludicrous to be denouncing these 2 young people for doing the job that so-called professionals should have been doing all along and worse yet, when the videos started trickling out, they still did nothing. Now they want to jump up and complain that “hey, they aren’t in our league!” With that I have to agree. Indeed, Giles and O’Keefe aren’t in those “professional journalist’s” league. They are in a league of their own, far surpassing anything that the pros are doing or should have been doing.

What those 2 kids did was show deep respect and regard for the First Amendment and shine a spotlight on a far-reaching abuse of power that the “real” press has been desperately trying to ignore. The last thing the press wants to do is make the president look bad and they will protect him even to the tune of billions of tax dollars being thrown in the ACORN treasure chest and worse, the (thankfully hypothetical) trafficking in child sexual abuse and slavery.

So, the press can debate their legitimacy and criticize and demean these 2 young adults but the bulk of the American people owe them a debt of gratitude and a great deal of respect: something the press will continue to be without.

Shut your pie hole, Bill. You’re sounding as delusional as Jimmy.

I said it a while ago: The shadowy Marxists are resurrecting a “vast right wing conspiracy” when it’s actually the left with the covert ops going on. Read David Horowitz and his websites (discoverthenetworks.org), watch Glenn Beck, read Inside the Revolution by Joel Rosenberg or watch kindergarteners sing praises to TheOne. Then tell us who’s got a conspiracy of thought going on.

Tides Foundation, ACORN, SEIU, the evil Rathke brothers and there’s no conspiracy? John Podesta launching a smear campaign on Soros’ blog sites against Giles, O’Keefe and Breitbart, not to mention ridiculous lawsuits, and they have no secret operations going on? Scouring the web for anything (like nudie pictures of Hannah) for any dirt they can get on these patriots and there’s a “right wing conspiracy”? The party that’s all for women’s rights is digging the internet for information to defame a 20 year old girl? How much more hypocritical can you get?

These people continue to flaunt their hypocrisy as though it’s a virtue. And they are more powerful than Rush Limbaugh in his wildest dreams, although they want to portray themselves as the downtrodden and the oppressed. There is one person bankrolling this entire Marxist movement. Not so the for the Republicans or conservatives. There is nothing grassroots about what the Soros army of Marxists is doing.

The dichotomy of the left is they have no self restraint but they want to control everyone else. Right now they are drunk on the power, on the WIN, on the control, but give them enough rope and they hang themselves. The ACORN sting is the best example of that: lies, corruption and immorality. They will bring themselves down with very little help from their enemies.

Breitbart’s long awaited revelation. His mission: the NEA

Andrew Breitbart

Andrew Breitbart

At the very least, filmmaker James O’Keefe and actress Hannah Giles deserve a Pulitzer Prize for their expose of deep corruption and unspeakable immorality at the ACORN housing division. But more important, I won’t rest until they receive a grant to continue their partisan artistry from the National Endowment for the Arts.

That’s this week’s mission.
