Michelle Obama, spending our money in Spain – GM making political donations again

The Washington Post reports that GM has given $41,000 to the Congressional Black Caucus. Why didn’t they give that money back to the American people since it was us who bailed them and their UNIONS out? Why did the CBC even take the money in light of that fact? Why isn’t the CBC even a little concerned with the financial plight of the people they represent? (Isn’t there something a little racist about a congressional BLACK caucus, anyway? Try to develop a CWC and see what kind of outcry that will cause!)

(GM is not Government Motors. It’s really GUM – Government/Union Motors and  you will never catch me driving a Chevy or Buick.)

Nearly a half a million people are unemployed and today, Drudge reports that food stamp usage is at an all time high while Michelle Obama enjoys a fantasy weekend in Spain with a couple dozen of her closest friends. All the while, those in the WH and Congress are telling us that we will have to make sacrifices during this economic crisis.

Today on the web pages of The New York Daily News there are photo galleries with these headlines and pull quotes:

First Lady of style

Meet Michelle Obama – a superachiever who made it to the White House while keeping her family priority No. 1.

It must be love

The First Couple makes time for romance as well as politics.

Barack Obama: He’s just like us

He may be the President of the United States, but Obama is still just a regular Joe.

The photos made me so angry that I had to stop clicking through them.  I have never seen such tone deaf politicians in my life. They have absolutely no concern about how their extravagance appears to the American people, who are pinching pennies and trying to hold onto jobs and make mortgage payments – let alone take a vacation! And we are paying for all this fun in the sun that the Obamas and their friends are enjoying!

As Andrea Tantaros points out in her column today, why is Michelle spending money in Spain when we have an entire nation she could use as her playground? How about the gulf coast? What would a long weekend there, by Michelle and her buddies, do for the tourism industry that’s been hit so hard this summer?

Are any of you old enough to remember the uproar from the press when Nancy Reagan purchased new china for the WH, although she never used one tax dollar to pay for it? Or how Nixon had to proclaim to the entire nation that his wife “doesn’t wear a mink coat, she has a respectable Republican cloth coat.”

Compare the austerity of George and Laura Bush to what we’ve seen out of the Obamas, in just less than 2 years.  Barry is trying to outdo JFK in glamour and glitz. Remember those concerts and poetry readings that Jack and Jackie held in the WH? The Obamas are sponsoring a monthly concert series of their own. The difference is that during the Kennedy years, our economy wasn’t in the dire situation it’s in today. Barry and Michelle are trying to recreate the Camelot atmosphere of the Kennedy years and they just aren’t pulling it off.

The extravagance of the Obamas will not play well this fall with the democrats who are trying to win or hold onto their congressional and senatorial seats. We have to vote these people out and that will send a resounding message to Barry – well, we can hope so, anyway.

I ask again: Who dresses this woman?

Rich Feld/AP photo

Is it just me or does this boat neck blouse strike anyone else as a poor choice for a visit to an area threatened by the most massive oil  spill (you know, lots of sticky black stuff floating onto the white beach on white waves?)  in our history?

The first thing I thought when I saw these photos of her in Florida was “What was she thinking?” Or does anyone else around her think?

Unbelievable.

Letting the days go by: Play another round of golf

If you have some time to waste, here’s a website that won’t be a waste. There are numerous videos here that are simply terrific! Especially watch the one titled “Failed Leadership- Oil Spill Timeline.”

PJTV picked up this one “Talking Fed- Letting the days go by” and has it featured on it’s site. It’s a really good one too… “Letting the days go by, crude oil is flowing in the gulf.”

Please, please check them out. You won’t be wasting time!

The power to shut off my laptop

Right now, in my household there’s a subtle feeling of doom. I’m in the process of finding a new job so my contribution to the household income is in flux. We had a plan to pay off all our debts (aside from the mortgage) in the next 6 months but it seems like as soon as we think we are getting ahead, something comes along and throws a wrench in the works.

But we are no different than anyone else and in fact, we are better off than many. We could be living on the gulf coast right now and depending on the fruits of the gulf that are dying before our eyes or tourism dollars that aren’t materializing, to feed our family.

Things could be so much worse. And they very well might get worse.

I keep reading that next year we will be paying more taxes. I already need to save several hundred dollars a month to pay my taxes and they will be higher next year? You’ve got to be kidding me, right? More in taxes for what? For less liberty.

I read this story tonight via Drudge Report and it makes me sink further into this morass of gloom. Obama can shut down the internet for up to 4 months if this bill passes.  No one will ever convince me that this is related to national security concerns. This is all about shutting down speech that has become inconvenient for the left. They don’t want any more James O’Keefe or Hannah Giles exposing scams like ACORN. No more Matt Drudge or Andrew Breitbart. No more YouTube videos that catches a politician man-handling a college student on the street for asking a simple question.

Is this what it will take to wake up our fellow citizens? When they lose the internet will they finally realize that tObama is not what he was billed? I’m hoping that any legislator who votes for this bill will be defeated in November (or whenever he/she is up for re-election.)

Shut down the internet? This is incredible to me. It follows that he could turn off our television, too. He could leave us totally in the dark with no voice and nothing to hear or read. The implications of this has got to scare anyone with a functioning brain. There is already technology out there that can control our thermostats from some remote bureaucrats desk somewhere. The government could control how cold or warm our homes are or how many times a week we run our washing machines.

And now they want to control what we KNOW and LEARN? What we say, read and write? We have got to stop this. This has been a dramatic take-over of America. It has happened so fast that most of us have no idea what new laws and regulations have been imposed on us. You have to spend 10 hours a day reading the news and the bills to even have a clue what they are doing to us.

They are counting on fatigue and surrender from the citizens to get all this stuff past us. It’s what I’ve been feeling for the past week. I’ve not been able to post anything to my blog because of this overwhelming feeling of doom. They want us to get tired and give up.

We simply can’t give up and surrender our rights and our nation to these marxists. This has to be stopped.

Obama’s High crimes and Misdemeanors

Remember this? America has been arrogant, dismissive and derisive…

Now, who is being arrogant and dismissive? This administration and president refused the assistance of 13 nations in the first 2 weeks of this oil spill. Other nations, including even the UN, stepped forward and offered their equipment and expertize in this catastrophe. They were rebuffed and sent away. Not only did the Netherlands, Canada, France and Norway offer to help us but Croatia, for cryin’ out loud!

And we said “No thanks. We’ll handle things.”

A Belgian group–DEME– contends it can clean up the oil in three to four months with specialty vessel and equipment, rather than an estimated nine months if done only by the U.S.  The article noted there are no more than 5 or 6 of those ships in the world and the top specialist players are the two Belgian companies– DEME and De Nul – and their Dutch competitors.

The U.S. does not have the similar technology and vessel to accomplish the cleanup task because those ships would cost twice as much to build in the U.S. than in the Far East. The article further criticizes this “great technological delay” is a direct consequence of the Jones Act.

Our fellow Americans who live and depend on the gulf for their livelihoods are being sacrificed because this president is too arrogant, too all-knowing to accept the help and expertise offered by nations with the technology to fix this problem. Our wetlands, beaches and precious creatures are dying at the expense of this egomaniac in the oval office.
But we all know that no one is as smart as he is. No one is as omnipotent as the Great Obama:
If this is not some kind of malfeasance or misfeasance in office, I don’t know what is. But this behavior qualifies for both, as far as I understand the definitions.  And if what he’s doing doesn’t qualify as “high crimes and misdemeanors” against this nation, our land and people, then I’m a Chinese astronaut… a really, really pissed off Chinese astronaut.

Gulf oil spill spells major inconvenience for the White House that still finds time for a party or 2

Remember that state dinner at the White House with Caldaron? Try and do a google image search and you will find NO pictures of it. I bet you can guess why there are no pictures of it.

You can, however, go here and see more than a dozen official photos. And they ought to disgust you.

After the “official” state dinner, these big shots were shuttled (in trams) to a tent like no other. God forbid these folks actually walk there. But tent is really a misnomer. It was a portable disco club, replete with an actual dance floor and laser lighting for the top-notch entertainment which included Beyonce.

There’s a photo of Obama and the missus, dancing together. I’ve seen him dance on the Ellen show. As a dancer, he stinks. There’s another photo that to me, appears to be staged of Obama preparing to kiss Michelle.

Indeed, this was a night to remember.

Right on the heels of this was the celebration of the Gershwin awards. Paul McCartney was being honored. I guess we don’t have enough talented and great Americans who qualify so we had to bring in a British Bush basher to honor.  His classless and unnecessary comments were cheered in the White House but it was the British press who quizzed over Paul’s past face lifts.

McCartney and Obama/Gershwin Award

The First Family had a front row seat in the dream concert of a lifetime: a Beatle and Stevie Wonder in your own family room. What more could you wish for?

The extravagance of this White House while oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico is disgusting.  Obama wanders the coast and picks up tar balls for photo-ops and then goes home to party with his elitist friends.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one is worth a million:

AP photo

This picture is worth a million words that I don’t have. This breaks the heart of all America. But nothing compares to what those people and creatures are suffering on the gulf coast. These people are without their livelihoods with families to feed.  A family night out for these folks, just like for us, is not a state dinner or a private concert with Paul McCartney. And now a family night out does not exist for most of them.

A job does not exist for  most of them.

But the president can party like it’s 1999 and golf every Sunday with no thought to what’s happening anywhere else.

His response?
“Just plug the damned hole.”

We all wish it were so easy, Mr. Too-cool-to-be-Bothered. We realize it’s an inconvenience for you. It’s no picnic for the gulf residents or for the rest of America, either.

The difference is that while our hearts break and many suffer, you’re cuttin’ a rug and clinking crystal.

You big jerk.

Obama’s failing presidency

America is watching the president alternate between wringing his hands in helplessness and pointing his finger in blame when he should be solving the most pressing environmental problem America has faced in the past 50 years. We are watching generations of environmental protection swept away as marshes, fisheries, vacation spots, recreational beaches, wetlands, hatcheries and sanctuaries fall prey to the oil spill invasion. And, all the while, the president acts like a spectator, interrupting his basketball games only to excoriate BP for its failure to contain the spill.

… After pursuing a remarkably activist, if misguided and foolhardy, agenda, Obama seems not to know what to do and finds himself consigned to the roles of observer and critic.

America is getting the point that its president doesn’t have a clue. Dick Morris

To friend and foe, America is MIA

The disaster in the Gulf may well spell the political end of the president and his administration, and that is no cause for joy. It’s not good to have a president in this position—weakened, polarizing and lacking broad public support—less than halfway through his term. That it is his fault is no comfort. It is not good for the stability of the world, or its safety, that the leader of “the indispensable nation” be so weakened. I never until the past 10 years understood the almost moral imperative that an American president maintain a high standing in the eyes of his countrymen.

Peggy Noonan is right: there is no cause for joy in this situation. Like Rush, as much as I’ve wanted to see this president’s ideology fail, this is not a happy moment for America. It’s not only sad but it’s disturbing and frightening. Things are unraveling around the world and we seem to have no control over even what’s happening inside our own borders.

Our most valued allies are drifting in the wind because we are no longer strong enough to back them. Israel is under attack from all sides and the entire Middle East is on an edge not seen in years, while the impotent UN is demanding an investigation into Israel’s reaction to being attacked by “humanitarian” terrorists. At the same time North Korea has torpedoed the South and is continuing to bristle with no demands of an investigation by the UN. Have we demanded one? “Entitled” Greeks are rioting because their nation is sinking and they are afraid they won’t get their benefits. I’ve got news for them and the rest of the world: there will be a generation or 2 who will suffer for the entitlements that can no longer be funded. To coin an overused but completely accurate phrase, it simply cannot be sustained. Iran is making and signing deals, in our face with nations in our hemisphere, who plan to support and get a piece of their nuclear action.

States are boycotting Arizona while the majority of Americans support our attempts to control the tide of criminal activity pouring over our border. Mr. Too-cool-to-be-President says he does not support or endorse boycotts. That’s a real firm stand for freedom! And now we have a gushing black hole in the gulf that is bound to ruin the American coast and countless lives (human and animal) and livelihoods.

The coolest and smartest president we’ve ever had is showing himself for what many of us have known he was, emotionless and clueless. He’s had to be goaded into making an appearance on the beach in Louisiana, into granting Governor Jan Brewer an audience and into only his second press conference in nearly a year. This man who stirred the hearts and tears of so many just 2 short years ago, is unmasked as the real wooden headed ventriloquist dummy that he is.

Those folks who voted for this man and accepted his dogma that America is not exceptional are about to be rudely awakened. Outside this nation, America is viewed as exceptional and the world does count on America but we aren’t there for the world today. Read the headlines and watch the news: the world is unraveling at a frightening pace and America is nowhere to be found. She is MIA.

Our allies and enemies stand slack jawed and in awe that America could elect such naivety and incompetence into the office of President of the United States, but no more stunned than millions of newly awakened Americans will be.

Government take over of BP might be coming

This morning on Fox, Stuart Varney suggested a very scary scenario. Holder might very well be on his way to the gulf for more reasons than meetings with state AGs regarding litigation.  He suggested that this might be the beginning of a government take-over of the American arm of British Petroleum.

I think Obama has finally realized that this is a true emergency and I’m afraid that he’s going to take advantage of it by taking over BP.  Maybe Rahm explained it to him. But this could mean dramatic changes in the American oil industry. And this disaster will mean dramatic changes in oil exploration in this country, even without an Obama take-over.
