I know that when I take my last breath, there will be some distant cousin (on my mother’s side) who will be baptizing me like this. And in death, I’ll be just as offended.
I was born a Catholic and I’ll die one. I’m pretty sure that Father Damien felt like I do, even though unlike me, he WAS a good Catholic. I’m a pretty lazy one.
This still offends me in a big way. It’s bad enough that someone baptizes a dead person into their church but to then “marry and seal” them for “all eternity” is just… ugly. And pardon me, but sinful, too. I mean, think about it: sealing a Catholic priest to some unknown woman, over 100 years after his death?
ggggggggggah!
Inexcusable.
