For Americans, Failure is Not Inevitable

In a speech to the Heritage Foundation, Victor Davis Hanson said that “decline is a choice.” He’s right. As Americans, we can choose to do nothing and fade into a black hole or we can choose not to and come out even shinier and sharper.

We have been told for over 2 years, by this president that we are not exceptional, that we do not deserve the wealth (as a nation and as individuals) that we have earned. We see it in the movies and on television: we are not the good guys anymore. Americans are evil and greedy, we are gluttons, we are wasteful, fat and bloated.  This is the message we are hearing from our so-called leaders, from the celebrities that we (falsely) admire, and from the educators in academia whose salaries we pay.

This message is not new coming from teachers or celebrities – we’ve been hearing that for decades from those corners – but it is new coming from our nation’s leader.

It is new for Americans to see a president bow to monarchs. A president who not only feels submissive to the rest of the world but wants to make the nation so, as well. In his warped mind, he believes it. He’s not proud to be an American and as all Americans know, his wife has only once been proud to be one.

Obama bowing to the Saudi king/WND.com

I believe that he is preparing us for the fall that he is creating. I believe that he wants us to feel unworthy of our place in the world so that when he ushers us into 3rd world status, we will be not only prepared but, feel deserving of that place.

The man who said he was going to be a unifier has divided us further. We are more polarized as a nation now, than since the Civil War. From his first missteps (“the police acted stupidly”) to his latest (“I’m here. Congress should stay here too” as he prepares for a weekend at Camp David and a vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and another round of golf on Sunday) he has proven himself to be completely out of touch with the people who put him there – and the people who didn’t put him there but who he represents.

Obama’s uplifting message (Yes We Can!) has become one of misery and depression. He’s produced a national gloom that we must shake off before we become forever mired in this depression.

We do not have to accept his vision of America in decline. It’s a choice. We must stand up and celebrate being citizens of the greatest nation and society mankind has ever known.

The time is now.

Qaddifi family’s death still unconfirmed

Call me heartless but you know, I can’t care too much that Qaddifi’s son and grandchildren might be dead following NATO air strikes. He puts his family in dangerous situations and in buildings that are targets and then denounces the allies for their deaths? Gimme a break.

I don’t know why we are in Libya, to begin with. No one has proven that their civil war has put us in immanent danger.

Has everyone forgotten the dancing in the streets in the Muslim world when innocent civilian Americans are killed?  I haven’t forgotten it and I’m not celebrating their deaths (if it’s confirmed) but I’m sure not sorry about it.

Mock slave auction in a 4th grade class.

Have you read the story on Drudge about the 4th grade teacher in Norfolk, VA who set up a mock slave auction in her classroom? The story is copyrighted so I can’t post it here but you can find it at The Virginian-Pilot via Drudge.

This goofy liberal teacher separated her black and mixed race students and offered them for sale to her white students as a classroom lesson in  — I’m not sure what. To teach 9 year olds mmmm I can’t really come up with a reason she would do something so stupid, so out of line, so really inappropriate, all in the name of being “well meaning” or “in everyone’s best interest” or “for the good of the children.”

To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, the statist restrict other people’s liberty and peace with a clear conscious because they are doing it for the greater good of those people who just really don’t know what IS good for them.  They really see nothing wrong with these behaviors because they are doing what they believe is best for all of us. Never mind that most of us would just like to be left the hell alone.

The Virginian-Pilot goes on to report that last year a guidance counselor resigned her job after giving out 80-100 fetus figurines to elementary students; another left after parents complained that she had anointed a student with “holy oil”; while a third (high school teacher) was reprimanded after it came to light that he/she was teaching from anarchist materials and organizations that were pro-marijuana legalization.

Our tax dollars at work, boys and girls.

Where do you find a fetus figurine? Let alone 100 of them? And more importantly, how is that possibly age approriate for an elementary age child? And whether this counselor was pro-life or pro-abortion, matters not because it simply has no place in elementary school.

I just cannot imagine what these teachers are thinking.  I’ll say this, though, they are good promotion for home schooling.

We had a responsibility to act… SO???

According to who? And why?

Why do we have a responsibility to act in Libya and not in Syria? Why do we have a responsibility to act at all, in the Middle East (short of helping our only real ally, Israel)?

Oh, I remember now – we need the oil. Our allies need the oil. Where are all those anti-war protestors that screamed “no blood for oil” during the Bush years? What’s happened to the stupid Cindy Sheehan?

Okay, now this conservative is screaming it: No blood for oil! Bring our soldiers home!

I could NOT care less about muslims killing muslims. And I don’t want our soldiers sacrificed to protect them from each other. When they are done killing each other, they’ll be back to killing us.

This Libya thing is about civil war – a power struggle – and oil.

If we are arming ONE Al Qaeda member, that’s one too many. If we are aiding one, it’s one too many. None of us have forgotten who attacked us on 9/11. I’m sure there are a lot of liberals in this country who have, including it seems, TheOne, but the majority of us, regular Americans, have not forgotten.

The Libyans are  tribes, who mostly still live in a stone age with cell phones and modern weapons. They don’t care about or understand western democracy. They aren’t fighting for “freedom.” Who’s kidding who? They are fighting for power and control. And the ones who win (most likely it will be Al Qaeda) won’t be our pals. They’ll be very rich – oil rich – enemies.

Wake up, America! they won’t like us any better than they did on 9/11 or 2 days ago. A no-fly zone and air cover is not going to change that and the president just can’t seem to “get it.” They may have the same color politics – Obama and the muslims – but that’s where it ends.

And while we’re on the subject of a “responsibility to act” – what about the Christians in Ethiopia who recently were terrorized, killed and had their churches burned down? What about the Christians in Afghanistan who are being terrorized and killed? What about the outrage for a family in Israel that was murdered in their sleep?

WHERE IS THAT DAMNED OUTRAGE, MISTER PRESIDENT? WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT ”RESPONSIBLITY TO ACT?”
