Obama seems to be for limiting Christians

If Obama had his way, he would close not only all Catholic hospitals but all Catholic schools as well. In fact, he’d close all religious schools, except the muslim madrases.

He told an audience of about 2000 in Northern Ireland that “if towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation.”

I read the article here.

It’s very short and then I read the comments below. I encourage you to do the same.

As Father John Zuhlsdorf said in his blog, it seems odd that Obama never went to Jerusalem and told those people that Jewish schools and muslim madrases should be closed because they cause division between the people. Or did he and we all missed it?

I don’t think so.

A couple of the commenters stated that religion is the most divisive of all things because it divides the believers from the non-believers. Oh. Like one commenter said – being a New England Patriot fan is less divisive than being a Denver Bronco fan?

Christianity is a choice. We choose to believe, we choose to have faith. We choose to love our neighbors and if we’re really full of grace, we love them like ourselves. (That’s a hard one to follow.) We choose to believe in one God and his son, Jesus who is the way to all salvation.

Atheists choose to believe otherwise. And as Americans, it’s our right to choose.

But should that divide us? It hasn’t until recently. The social progressives (or as I like to call them, Marxists) have permeated every aspect of our society: Hollywood, the news media, our public schools, the courts and now the Presidency. The problem is that we have very few places to turn for an alternative from the moral relativism (or more commonly known as political correctness) of the Marxists.

I will never understand why a nativity scene in the public square is so aggravating to atheists. Or why a prayer before the beginning of a graduation ceremony puts them in such a frenzy. No one is forcing them to believe anything. But the majority of Americans do believe and they are forcing us to basically go into hiding or to fore go our religious heritage for their sake. This is wrong, on all kinds of levels.

We need to stand firm in our beliefs and look for areas in our culture that foster and nurture them. And never be ashamed to admit or proclaim that we are Christians.
