How low will they go? And will it stop before someone ends up dead?

You know how sometimes you learn a new word and then see, hear or read it everywhere after that? I had a similar experience after reading nononeofanyimport’s blog regarding Brett Kimberlin. (Outstanding blog, btw, so please be sure and read it.)

Yesterday I read this on Fox:

Conservative bloggers say they are being terrorized by a potentially deadly prank in which phony 911 calls bring armed cops to their doors in search of criminals, all in retaliation for their blog posts.

At least two conservative Internet pundits have reported being victims of “SWAT-ing.” In at least one incident, the caller claimed to be the resident of the home and confessed to shooting his wife, according to a recording of the call posted online.

The most recent incident involved blogger Erick Erickson, who claimed on his Red State site that sheriff’s deputies arrived at his Macon, Ga., home Sunday night as his family gathered for dinner. He said the episode was unnerving, particularly considering one deputy had his hand on his pistol. But Erickson admitted it could have been worse had he not warned officials – in light of Frey’s experience – that he anticipated being a victim.

In another relatively similar case, [Patrick] Frey was awoken shortly after midnight by sheriff deputies after they received a call about a shooting inside his home. In a purported recording of the 911 call, the caller can be heard saying: “I’d like to report a shooting … I shot her, my wife.” Police ordered him at gunpoint to get outside, then handcuffed him until completing a search and finding his wife and children safe.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to FoxNews.com that deputies responded to Frey’s house on the date in question. The department later filed a report on the incident with the FBI.

Frey said talks with nationwide experts suggested this was a case of SWAT-ing and says he and all other victims have written about activist and convicted felon Brett Kimberlin.

These leftists are full of dirty tricks, aren’t they? If they aren’t trying to censor us with boycotts, they are calling in bogus 911 reports and wasting the taxpayers money by sending in SWAT teams and cops who should be doing actual crime fighting.  Of course, they don’t care that they might be endangering the lives of innocent people – especially children.

A dead conservative, with or without collateral damage (children and cops), is a good conservative to them. It’s hard to believe the level they are willing to go to beat us. But this is reaching dangerous levels.

Of course, how much more dangerous can you get than being convicted of bombings?

[Brett] Kimberlin was convicted as the so-called “Speedway Bomber,” who terrorized the city of Speedway, Indiana, by detonating a series of explosives in early September 1978. In the worst incident, Kimberlin placed one of his bombs in a gym bag, and left it in a parking lot outside Speedway High School. Carl Delong was leaving the high school football game with his wife when he attempted to pick up the bag and it exploded. The blast tore off his lower right leg and two fingers, and embedded bomb fragments in his wife’s leg. He was hospitalized for six weeks, during which he was forced to undergo nine operations to complete the amputation of his leg, reattach two fingers, repair damage to his inner ear, and remove bomb fragments from his stomach, chest, and arm. In February 1983, he committed suicide.

But just for the record, Kimberlin states unequivocally that he is not responsible for the SWAT-ing calls and doesn’t know either of the bloggers in question.

thanks for the linkage and the kind words. These dudes are sooper creepy, and it appears they will say or do anything to shut up or (if they won’t shut up) delegitimize their target.

I know potential for violence is the most obvious and important threat, however, I want to point out the more insidious part, which is to “cause infighting and sow confusion. The motive is clear — distract from the real issues.” this is from Lee Stranahan’s blog

    http://leestranahan.com/the-kimberlin-monsters-are-due-on-maple-street-strategy

During that silly “top political moms” contest, I noticed how certain trolls would impersonate a blogger while insulting another blogger on a comment string–another good example of causing infighting and confusion. (I’m not saying these are connected, btw.)

If you click on the Stranahan link and follow his links to an opposition blog and twitter acct, you will feel like you’ve fallen down the rabbit hole, lol. For the outsider, all the cross-accusations make the whole mess unsortable. It succeeds in making all parties look bad. And that helps delegitimize their targets (in this example, Patterico and Aaron Worthing).

I’m not sure I even have a point, ha. Perhaps it is this: if any of you guys get trolls, search the URL every time, and keep record of it. If you get a surge in troll comments, you might also do a quick google search of your own blog name for the last 24 hours, to make sure no one is impersonating you elsewhere. I know you already wisely shut them down when they show up–that’s important too.

And do follow Karen’s example over at the Lonely Conservative, and post about every single one of the times you are a target of online harassment.

    cheers all!
    Lin
