Mama Obama, mothering us all

from 4.bp.blogspot.com

[A]s America’s restaurant owners, you’re responsible for one-third of the calories our kids get on a daily basis. From the speech today by Michelle Obama to the National Restaurant Association.

Where did this statistic come from, Mrs. Obama?

I find it hard to believe that our children are eating out 1 meal a day, every day.

Unless you count school lunches, which have nothing to do with the NRA, this is factually incorrect. As a family, we never ate 1 meal a day in a restaurant or at a fast food place. When my children were growing up, we probably didn’t eat more than 1 meal a week at an establishment like McDonalds and definitely not at an Applebees.

I found it quite appalling that she speaks to us of nutrition and portion sizes (which I’m sure if they get smaller, the price will, too – NOT) and changing our eating habits when this is the family who flies their chef with them to Marthas Vineyard and who just returned from an extravagant dining adventure in Spain.

So Mrs. Obama let me say this: I’m not ever going to like you but I might dislike you less if you’d stay out of my business and take better care of your own.

Thank you and good night.

Her entire speech is here.

Harry Reid holding our troops hostage

from brokencountry.com

In order for our troops to get the funding for body armor and ammunition and stuff they need, Republicans will have to vote for the immigration bill that Reid has attached to the Defense bill at the 11th hour.  This immigration bill, dubbed the DREAM Act, gives a pathway to citizenship for minor illegal aliens. The vote for this will be next Tuesday.

If the GOP doesn’t vote in favor of this, they are leaving our troops stranded and unarmed. If they vote for it, they are moving big steps toward amnesty for illegals.

This is the Harry Way. This is the reason he has to go. This is what the Republicans and Angle have to jump on during this campaign. Reid has got to be tossed out.

Nothing is as unpatriotic and unAmerican as ransoming our troops in order to pass his illegal immigration legislation. The purpose of this is to get the Hispanic votes in Nevada. This is the lowest move any senator could make.

Quote of the day – Mark Levin

Failure is not the product of [the Statists] beliefs but merely want of power and resources. Thus are born endless rationalizations for seizing ever more governmental authority. Mark Levin/Liberty and Tyranny

And “thus are born more rationalizations” for enslaving the citizens by over taxation. If the school systems aren’t working – Let’s throw more money at it. If the war on drugs isn’t working – Let’s throw more money at it.

Statists will never admit that a system or a program just isn’t working. That would be admission of failure and they DO NOT FAIL.

Batteries not included in economic recovery

This happens to be Buzz Golfcart - oops I mean, Lightyears personal car. And you too, might be driving one!

In several cities in Michigan, new ion batteries are being produced for the giant wave of electric cars that will be taking over the highways and byways of America. Mind you, the cars aren’t really there, the demand isn’t there, but the batteries will be. In fact, most Americans don’t even want this kind of car.

I envision a warehouse in Livonia, MI full of ion batteries for a car that will never be embraced by the American people – until the gas prices go so high, thanks to the government, that we have no choice left.

From the AP- 9/12/10:

“Cost is high [for the electric car batteries].”

How high you ask?

Right now they will cost the consumer $33,000.00. That’s on top of the price of the car. “Although stimulus money could [- COULD -] bring them down to $10,000.00 by the end of 2015.”

That’s still $10K on top of the price of a new car. But Good Lord – who can afford a new car, anyway?

Remember those words from Obama’s Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, and I paraphrase: I plan to coerce Americans out of their cars.

Buzz Lightyear, the new Government Motors mascot

The battery has a life of 100miles, when charged. You won’t be going too far from home, will ya? Once again, a ploy by the statists to control your travel . . . your mobility. Easier to keep track of the population when they can’t go anywhere, isn’t it?

The battery factory in Holland, MI expects to employ 90 workers and produce between 75,000 and 150,000 cars by the end of next year. But of course, this all depends on the demand for the Lego-like cars to be produced. (I know I’m mixing cartoons and toys here – Lego and Disney – but never mind that.) This factory got almost $300 MILLION in federal grant money.

“The rapid buildup of production capacity by companies with limited experience for product with challenging market may prove wasteful,” said Menahem Anderman, founder and president of Total Battery Consulting, a California-based battery consulting firm. (There are consulting firms for BATTERIES???)

Yes, well, that’s my point. We are producing massive amounts of car batteries for a car that is hardly rolling on the roads, yet and may never be rolling.

But doggonit! we the taxpayers are employing thousands of Michiganders!
