Recycling, because I want to

Several years ago, I was posting at a bulletin board that is full of anti-Americans and anti-America Americans. You know, they are leftists – they believe that Americans are to blame for everything. You’d think they were all Catholics for the amount of guilt that they burden themselves with, for cryin’ out loud. Americans do nothing right or good and never have, according to these people and you could never make them acknowledge one thing America ever did positive without a “but” added to their statements. And my God – if you’re a Catholic/Christian, it’s the double whammy from them.

Needless to say, you can imagine why I left that little corner of the web.

But one day, while I was still posting there, this moron was talking about how we all must start recycling and conserving more and this should be “enforced” on those who won’t do it. Enforced. Okay. I asked him how will this be enforced? Are we going to start a brigade of trash police? These guys who will go door to door, garage to garage and fine people who aren’t putting newspapers in the paper bin and their diet Coke cans in the right box? How did he purpose to enforce this? And then how do you expect to pay for it?

He got pissed off and called me names and that ended that discussion. Typical liberal tactics. They never think through their proposals, they just mandate them. And if you don’t go along and you have a valid argument opposing them, they resort to name-calling.

But be that as it may, I do recycle and have for a long time.  And I do it voluntarily. My daughter’s school collects cans and plastic bottles. I also look for ways to reuse stuff rather than toss it and I routinely drop by St. Vincent DePaul (around 3:00am) and leave offerings.

My sister-in-law recycles and reuses also, by her own choice. You might have seen Dena’s comments here occasionally.

One of her grown sons jokes about this  because he can’t imagine a conservative who is also even a little green.  Which of course, is part of the left’s propaganda machine: conservatives don’t recycle, we just consume and waste stuff. Of course, her son knows better and that’s probably why he thinks it’s so funny, to begin with.

What the left doesn’t understand or want to admit is that conservatives believe in personal responsibility; not forced or enforced regulations. We aren’t stupid or disrespectful about our environment. And in fact, because we are right – and on the right – we take it as seriously, if not more so than anyone else does.

Good blog on being conservative! Just wanted to comment that I too am conservative, and I also recycle! And I recycle almost anything and everything that I possibly can.

Thank you for posting and I’m sorry that I missed this post before today.
I look at things from every perspective to find a re-use for everything before I toss it. LOL My daughter’s 2nd graders have had several class projects thanks to my reuse/recycle disorders. 😉

As a former Girl Scout leader, recycling was a major topic for us to reinforce in our young charges about not being wasteful – we did this through activities, songs, and field trips. We gave them a sense of pride in caring for Mother Earth, to not be slothful, to clean up after themselves. Whenever we went to a Girl Scout camp or other event, the girls knew the rules: the site had to be CLEANER than when we arrived. Every bit of trash was picked up, even if it was from other long-ago campers or visitors, before we left for home.

While it is expected of Americans will go the extra mile willingly, we made sure the girls understood that caring for others was important – being centered on oneself was what babies did. Also important was giving back to the community. As was honoring your family and being a responsible, productive member of society. With my two beloved co-leaders, the three of us — all conservative, all Christian — had a ball for seven years instilling basic principles and ideas that no one owes you anything, but as a citizen of the greatest nation on Earth, the United States, you should always live by the Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments. You should always give back, but no one was keeping track if you did or didn’t. It must come voluntarily from a giving heart, but only YOU knew if you were a giver or a leech.

Mandating recycling or community service? This isn’t Cuba, for crikey’s sake. The liberals out there screaming the most for others to lose their freedoms, their ability to make decisions and live harmoniously with others, are the worst things that has ever hit any society. Hypocrites. Much like millionaire celebrities who want everyone to be “green” but gleefully globe-trot in their private jets… mandates for thee, but not for me. Hypocrites.

A school mate of my teen son’s was surprised recently to find out my son is a conservative and a Republican, that we are a conservative family.

“Why are you so surprised?” asked my son.

“Because you’re not rich, and everyone knows that only Republicans and conservatives are rich. Poor people are Democrats,” his friend said.

Yeah… because everyone knows that Bill Gates, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon, David Letterman, George Clooney, Al Gore, and Democrats in Congress are paupers, right?

    Tell a lie often enough…
