When Tiger doesn’t play, golf viewership falls by at least 25%; some polls say more than that.
I’m tired of hearing about his personal life. I’m tired of hearing his apologies. I’m tired of women coming out of the woodwork claiming to be his “one and only after Elen.”
Tiger’s personal life has become a tragedy for many people. And the media is driving a story that I think most people no longer want to know about. He made a series of huge mistakes but like thousands of others, I want to see him back on the course. He’s made the apologies to the people that matter and bogus or not, he’s atoning for those mistakes now. I’m in no position to judge his infidelities or his sincerity and I won’t.
I want him back on the course where I think his real rehabilitation (spiritual, public and private) will occur.
If you’ve never watched him, you have no idea what you’re missing.
If you’ve never played golf, you have no idea what this means but to watch Tiger or Ernie or Phil and see them mess up a putt or slice a drive and know that you’ve done the exact same thing makes the game and those athletes feel almost like personal friends. And to watch when they do something so phenomenal, so amazing, so almost other-worldly on a golf course, is for me at least, breathtaking.
I know this: I watch Tiger play on tv and he is THE most amazing athlete of my lifetime. Golf is not the same without him.
I miss him and I want him back. And yes, I know how selfish I sound…

I know how frustrating golf is.
You invent new words.
To see these guys’ expertise is phenomenal.
Tiger didn’t do anything different than athletes down through the ages have.
He was a major figure and got caught.
So did Babe Ruth, Magic Johnson etc.
My take is he let down his wife and kids.
There lies the difference.
If he wanted to play those games, don’t get married.

I’m not disagreeing with you: “Tiger’s personal life has become a tragedy for many people.”
I’m also not condoning his actions: “He made a series of huge mistakes.”
I just want to see him golf again and as I said, I know that is selfish but his golf game was not only fabulous to watch but he made everyone else’s game that much better, too.

The ego, the libido, and the money are a bad combination for a commitment at the Altar.
He never had the guts to be married.
Marriage is tough.
Great golfer, bad husband.

I was certainly taken with his apology. He seemed to be a broken man, God help him and his family. Listening to Laura and another female dolt denigrating the motives and honesty of his words made me yell bad thing at the TV. Jim

Personally, I agree with you. I thought he looked and behaved sincerely.
And I believe that the bigger sin is to not accept an apology and give forgiveness (whether they are sincere or not.) It’s not my position to determine what is genuine and what is not from a person, that’s God’s job. However, it is my place to forgive.
I’ve been in the place where my apology was not accepted and my attempt to atone was rejected and my motives were suspected. That’s a painful place to be. (it never involved anything as serious as infidelity and I’m not talking about whether or not his wife should accept this or not.) But as a Christian and as a fan of his, I accept his apology to ME.
And that’s my take on this whole thing.
